na napili ko rito ay english for grade 5.
As said in our lecture, The table of specifications (TOS) is a tool used to ensure that a test or
assessment measures the content and thinking skills that the test intends to measure. Thus,
when used appropriately, it can provide response content and construct validity evidence.
Moving on sa table, sa first column ay makikita ang lesson or topic. Given the instructions na sa
MELCS magbase ng learning competency, there wasn’t really a specific topic na namention dun
kaya i first picked yung mga learning competency which you can see sa second column and
from that ay nagformulate ako ng general na topic.
For example sa learning competency 1, which is Fill-out forms accurately (school forms, deposit
and withdrawal slips, etc.) we can say na it can be classified under sa topic na filling out of
forms given sa statement ng learning competency which is also the same for the second
competency na ang nakalagay ay Infer the meaning of unfamiliar words using text clues then it
can be under the topic of Utilizing Text Clues. As for the third and fourth learning competency,
almost pareahas naman sila ng topic na cinocover or a common ground which is Constructing
Coherent Sentences kaya i decided na pagsamahin nalang sila under one topic.
As for the second column, like i said earlier, nagbase lang ako kung ano yung learning
competency or objective na nakalagay sa melcs and ayan yun. For english ng grade 5 students,
mayroon lang na 4 learning competencies sa isang quarter and since summative test siya,
isang quarter lang yung icoconsider natin.
Sa third column naman is yung number of days or hours na tinake para maturo yung certain
topic. Given na 25 days in total, it is up to us kung paano namin ididistribute yung number of
days pero sa akin ginawa ko na 6 days each for the first three learning competency then 7 days
sa fourth competency. So, 6+6+6+7 is equal to 25, meaning 25 days.
So bago tayo pumunta sa fourth column which is yung percentage of emphasis ay hanapin
muna natin yung total no. of test items since if di natin hinanap yun muna ay hindi rin natin
malalaman kung ano yung percent of emphasis.
To find the number of items per learning competency ay first dapat magset tayo ng total number
of items which is 50 items and we will now follow the formula which is total number of items
divided by total number of days or hours multiplied by number of days or hours taught the
certain learning competency or objective.
Let's take a look at the first learning competency which has 6 number of days or hours taught,
so para makuha yung number of test items dito ay kukunin natin yung total number of items
which is 50 divided by the total number of days or hours which is 25 then multiplied by 6 will
give us 12. Dahil 50 divided by 25 is equal to 2 times 6 is equal to 12 kaya ang ilalagay natin sa
number of test item is 12. Kung mapapansin niyo mayroon na nakalagay na actual and
adjusted, it means na yung actual is what we actually get for example nakakuha tayo ng may
decimal like 11.59 ayun yung actual then yung adjusted is yung rounded off form niya which is
12. But in our case, since whole number naman siya hindi na natin kailangan mag round off and
12 yung ilalagay natin both sa actual and adjusted. Since 6 days or hours lang din yung sa
second and third learning competency, then the same no. of test item lang din sila.
Sa learning competency 4 naman mayroong 7 days bale total number of items which is 50
divided by the total number of days or hours which is 25 then multiplied by 7 will give us 14.
Dahil 50 divided by 25 is equal to 2 times 7 is equal to 14 kaya ang ilalagay natin sa number of
test item is 14.
At dahil 50 yung sinet natin na total number of test items ay dapat 50 ang magiging total ng mga
cinompute na test items for each learning competency. So, 12+12+12+14 is equal to 50.
Going back sa percentage of emphasis, ngayon na may number of test items na for each
learning competency ay macocompute na natin siya. Siyempre, kailangan na ang total niya ay
100% , at para mahanap yung percent of emphasis ay ifofollow natin itong formula na total
number of test items for a particular learning competency or objective divided by total number of
test items multiplied by 100.
Check natin here sa first learning competency, total number of test items for a particular
learning competency is 12 divided by total number of test items which is 50 multiplied by 100 is
equal to 24 or 24 percent. The same goes for the second and third learning competency since
same naman sila ng number of days per learning competency.
Bale sa last learning competency yung maiiba dahil 14 yung number of days or hours niya. So,
let’s check. The total number of test items for a particular learning competency is 14 divided by
total number of test items which is 50 multiplied by 100 is equal to 28 or 28 percent.
As I said kanina na kailangan na total siya sa 100%, kailangan na ang total ng aking nacompute
ay magequal sa 100%. So, 24 plus 24 is 48 plus isa pang 24 ay 72 plus 28 is equal to 100. So,
okay na ang lahat from first to fifth column.
Sa sixth column naman, yung number of days is the same sa third column na number of days or
hours kaya naman same lang ng input sa kanilang dalawa.
Sa seventh column naman dito makikita yung categories of cognitive skills kung saan 60%
dapat ay inculded kay readung and understanding, 30% kay application and analysis and 10%
sa evaluation and creation. So using the number of items per learning competency ay we are to
distribute those sa cognitive skills. After distributing dapat each row should be equal sa number
of items per learning competency.
Let’s check naman if equal sa number of items per learning competency yung number of items
distributed sa cognitive skills. Sa first learning competency, 3+4+4+1 is equal to 12 so check
then sa second learning competency naman, 6+4+1+1 is equal to 12 so proceed na ulit tayo sa
next learning competency, 4+4+2+1+1 is equal to 12 and lastly sa fourth learning competency,
3+2+3+2+1+3 is equal to 14. Meaning tama lang yung mga nakalagay for each cognitive skill
pero diba nga may percentage each yung mga cognitive skills which is yung 60 30 10 principle.
So if we add all the items under reading which is 3+6+4+3 is equal to 16 then yung items
naman under sa understanding which is 4+4+4+2 is equal to 14. 16 plus 14 is equal to 30. To
know if tama yung number of items, we must know kung ano yung 60% ng 50 and that is 30. So
check ang cognitive skill natin for reading and understanding.
Next naman, ang application and analysis should be 30% of the test. Once again, we will count
the number of items na under ng application which is 4+1+2+3 is equal to 10 then for analysis,
1+1+1+2 is equal to 5 and 10 plus 5 is equal to 15. Just like nung ginawa natin sa una, 30% of
50 is 15. So tama.
Lastly sa cognitive skill na evaluating and creating, 10% lang dapat siya. So the total number of
items under evaluating is 2 since 1 plus 1 and yung sa creating naman is 3 dahil sa fourth
learning competency lang siya makikita. 3 plus 2 is equal to 5 and 10% of 50 is equal to 5.
After doing all the computation ay we’re getting close sa end ng two way table of specification.
Then, in the next column nakalagay naman dito yung item format which basically means yung
type of test on that certain part yung gagawin. For example, yung sa first learniing competency,
nilagay ko is fill in the blanks and multiple choice since I think ayun yung pinakaapplicable sa
learning competency na ‘to. And the same goes sa ibang learning competency.
Then sa second competency I chose multiple choice, sa third naman ay matching type then sa
fourth is multiple choice and essay.
Sa last column naman ay makikita natin ang item placement, and ang item placement ay
nakabase sa distribution mo sa cognitive skills pero you have the authority on which number
you want that certain number to be. For example, dito sa first learning competency, numbers 1-
3 is for 3 number sa reading then 17-20 for understanding then 32-35 for application and 42 for
the one number in analysis. The same way of numbering is applied sa mga sumusunod na
learning competency hanggang sa maka 50 yung total na number of items.
