Directions: Answer the questions based on what you have watched about Icarus and
Daedalus story.
Understand

1. Why was Minos so bothered by his son’s deformity?


Answer:
Because his son was a half-bull half-human minotaur. And it was a horrible
perversion of the natural law.

2. What was clever and artful about the labyrinth that Daedalus built?
Answer:
The labyrinth that Daedalus built for the minotaur is inescapable.

3. What precautions did Daedalus take to ensure that Icarus would be safe?
Answer:
He told Icarus not to fly near the ocean because the wing would be dampened
and also, he told him not to fly near the sun as it would let the wax, and either of
the two situations will surely make them die.
4. What was Daedalus’ reaction to Icarus’ death?
Answer: He feel guilty for his failed decision by defying the natural laws of mortal
men in the service of his ego.

5. If you were Daedalus, could there have been a way that you could have pretended
Icarus’ death?
Answer:
No. Because If I were Daedalus, I will also make this plan to see my son having
his freedom than pretending his death.

6. Would you have worn the wings that Daedalus made if you were offered to wear
them? Explain your reasons.
Answer:
No. Because if I wore the wings, making a little mistake can be the cause of my
death. And I’d rather be a prisoner alive than to die because of escaping.

Analyze
7. What three factors contributed to the tragic end of Icarus?
Answer:
Being overwhelmed, careless and not listening to his father. He ignores the
advice of Daedalus and fly higher which later caused his death.

8. What details of early Roman life are revealed in the myth?


Answer:
Mortals and Gods were absolutely separated and those who will attempt to cross
the line will be severely punished.
Evaluate
9. How responsible a father was Daedalus? Explain your answer.
Answer:
As a father, Daedalus was responsible enough because he doesn’t want to see
his son suffering as a prison in the labyrinth that is why he created the plan foe
escape.

Essential Question:
7. Why is there great wisdom in being mindful of one’s limits?
Answer:
Because going out of your limit can bring harm and may cause some things that
we will forever regret.
