a. Norman's model
Your Answer
1. Norman's model concentrates on user's view of the interface has two principal
players interaction cycle has two major phases and it consists of seven stages as
follows: User to establish Goal User to formulate Intention Decides on action on the
interface Executes the action Perceives system state Interprets system response
Evaluates system with respect to goal.
2. Abowd Beale's interaction framework identified and system and user components
which communicate interface. This via the input and out put components of an
communication follows a similar cyclic sequence of steps from the user's articulation
of a task, through the system's performance and presentation of the task, to the
user's observation of this task's results, upon which the user can formulate further
tasks.
Question 2
What is ergonomics and why its important in industry interfaces.? Provide examples
on how ergonomics will be applied.
Your Answer
Among the interaction styles, describe 3 of them that your comfortable with. Why?
Your Answer
Among the interaction styles, The three interactions that I chooses are the following:
1.First, Command language it is the earliest form of interaction style and is still being
used, though mainly on Linux/Unix operating systems. These "Command prompts"
are used by (usually) expert users who Type in commands and possibly some
parameters that will affect the way the command is executed and that's were I see
that this interaction is important and needed to be included because of its good
functionality.
2.Second, The form filing interaction style (also called "fill in the blanks") was aimed
at a different set of users than command language, namely non-experts users. I think
this will be more useful to those people who prefer this way since we have a different
way of understanding and learning to a certain ideas/knowledge and this would
highly benefit them which baclsed on their learning style and habit in learning.
Question 4
What are common mistakes in Interaction design particularly those with digital
technologies?
Your Answer
There are lots of common mistakes by most designers in the field of multimedia
system particularly to interaction design or web design that can be infuriating for
users; even seemingly small, inconsequential design decisions can have a
significant bearing on how effectively and efficiently users are able to carry out their
tasks and reach their goals. For example, one of the small things that I find most
annoying is when the flashing text cursor, or caret, is not within the first or only input
field when you arrive on a page. To allow seamless movement from task-to-task,
small design elements, such as allowing users to instantly input information/details
the moment they arrive at a page, can make all
the difference to the user experience. These mistakes are as follows:
1. Bad Search
2. PDF Files for Online Reading
3. Not Changing the Colour of Visited Links
4. Non-Scannable Text
5. Fixed Font Size
6. Page Titles With Low Search Engine Visibility
7. Anything Advertisement That Looks Like an 58% 1
8. Violating Design Conventions
9. Opening New Browser Windows
10. Not Answering Users' Questions
Question 5
Your Answer
Generally, the biggest challenges that UXI designers face are imposed by company
or methodology. Others are related to low culture, organization, workflow access to
data and poor internal communication, which leads to a lack of vision around the
products and services they are working on. Also, the following are the common
challenges experienced by most designers.
