Persuasive Speech
Specific Topic: Persuading the Filipino people to be vaccinated with Covid-19 Vaccines
Specific Purpose: To persuade the Filipino people to be vaccinated with Covid-19 Vaccines
Central Idea: COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and built to save lives.
Target audience: The Filipino people, both here in the Philippines and beyond the world.
Introduction:
To be frank, we humans tend to overthink things, which leads to speculations about what
might happen to us when we get vaccinated by any of the COVID-19 vaccines. It will implant a
microchip that will allow Bill Gates to track your every move; it will convert you into a monkey;
it will change your DNA; and it will allow Russia to spy on you. These are just a few of the
bizarre conspiracy theories concerning the COVID-19 vaccine that have been spreading on social
media. Governments are fighting not only the virus, but also misinformation as they prepare to
send out vaccines. As I received my first dosage of the Pfizer vaccine, my pre-existing condition
was 'fear.' Could it be actually the truth? I mean, even though I am fearful of needles, someone
like me had my first vaccination shot. I find that amusing, but ladies and gentlemen, while I
deliver my speech today, I want you to use your heads and consider why you needed to be
vaccinated. Today, I will do all in my power to urge you in behalf of our government to be
vaccinated for the sake of our country!
Body:
The Philippines are in rank 82 out of 186 countries in terms of recoveries-to-closed cases
ratio. According to a recent Pulse Asia study conducted from June 7 to 16, only 43% of the 2,400
adult respondents stated they would certainly take the COVID-19 vaccination, 36% are inclined,
16% are hesitant, and 5% are already vaccinated. Some Filipino adults are reluctant to get
vaccinated due to concerns about vaccine safety, while others are concerned about the vaccine's
efficacy. In the Philippines, 98% of all resolved cases are recoveries while the other 2% lead to
death (covid19stats.ph/stats). Today's studies show that the vaccine reduces the likelihood of a
person contracting Covid-19.
COVID-19 immunization is now providing a path for us out of this phase of the epidemic.
Many scientists believe that without them, natural herd immunity would not have been enough
to restore society to its original state, and that it would have ended in extreme fatality (news-
medical.net). Research has shown that the Moderna and mRNA-based Pfizer vaccines are 94-95
percent effective, and these values have held true even in studies including high-risk individuals
and the elderly (Sarah Moore, April 30,2021). According to research, there are major potential
hurdles to getting the vaccine across all population groups, ranging from worry to resolute
resistance, mild skepticism to overt mistrust, and apathy to conscious noncompliance. Young
people, for example, are skeptical and more prone to believe misleading information, such as
claims on social media that the vaccination contains a microchip that tracks your every move or
that it contains lung tissue from an aborted fetus.
So, how will the government can overcome these obstacles and persuade the public that
the vaccine is safe and that they should be immunized? Provide more clear facts and a stronger
message about the necessity of vaccinations. COVID-19 is real, and you should be grateful if you
and your family haven't come into contact with it. Do you prefer face-to-face teaching? Do you
like to go to the movies? You can go anywhere you wish without having to worry about Covid-19
effects. Or perhaps a large gathering? Then get everyone vaccinated; we need to attain the 90
percent herd community before we can return to the country's "previous normal" state.
Conclusion:
Furthermore, I encourage you to get vaccinated so you'll have a low risk of contracting
Covid-19 or any of its symptoms. This pandemic can be averted by educating the public and
ourselves about the importance of COVID-19 vaccination and being open about the vaccine's
development as well as the prevalence of probable side events. Educating people helps to
develop trust in the decision to provide vaccinations; without it, the globe will be unable to
combat the pandemic and return to "normal" life. So, what are you holding out for? Register and
go to the nearest vaccination center near your home!
