Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the presentation of another person’s work as your own. It is a particular form of cheating. Plagiarism
must be avoided at all costs and students who break the rules, however innocently, may be penalised. It is your
responsibility to ensure that you understand correct referencing practices. As a university level student, you are expected to
use appropriate references throughout and keep carefully detailed notes of all your sources of materials for material you
have used in your work, including any material downloaded from the Internet.
In this be the case, Emirates Aviation University considers plagiarism as theft and any student found to have plagiarised
would be awarded an automatic fail for the piece of work submitted and may be excluded from further study at the
University.
Late Assignments
If your assignments are not submitted on time and you have not received an extension, you will normally be penalized 10%
to 20% of the total mark for the assignments. (Please check the student’s handbook)

According to the Air Transport Association, a person could fly every day for 3,859 years without
being involved in an aircraft accident. That's an accident rate of one accident for every 1.4
million flights based on 2009 data.
Air travel today remains safe, thanks in part to accident investigation. Findings from accident
investigators pave the way for changes to be made in aviation, such as changes to pilot duty,
Maintenance requirements and priorities etc… These changes are improving technology,
preventing accidents and saving lives.
In light of commercial aircraft accidents and incidents, lots of improvements to aircraft system
technology have been made. These improvements have played a significant role in reducing
and maintaining the aircraft incident / accident rates globally. In this assignment you are
requested to make a full study of at least 1 aircraft accident due to system failure. Your
assignment will be divided in two main aspects: the Mechanical/Theoretical aspect and the
actual investigation.
