Scrabble also offers opportunities for language skills to be improved, mental abilities
to be strengthened and desirable attitudes developed. When you directly participate
in the game with your family and friends, these advantages will grow further.

Chess

Benefits from playing Chess

3
Chess is an indoor leisure activity that, because of the advantages it offers to
students, is now being implemented as a big part of the secondary level curriculum.
Here are some of its benefits:
1. Chess improves students' mathematical and analytical abilities. It also develops
the students' problem solving capacity, focus skill, and critical thinking ability.
2. It creates students’ sense of confidence and self-worth.
3. It strengthens communication skills as well.
4. This offers a lesson about hard work and dedication.
5. Entertainment and relaxation is given by Chess. This game is free and can also
provide the watchers with entertainment.
6. Chess has fitness benefits as well. It is regarded as a form of therapy for
recreation. This keeps the mind safe, so it contributes to a healthy body.
Therapists use it to support patients who suffer from anxiety and depression.
7. Chess can improve family relationships as a type of indoor recreational activity.
Family members will play with each other when they are at home. In a way, the
chess pieces represent the members of the family. Much as in chess, every
member of the family has a role to play, where each piece has unique roles to
perform to win the game.

Domino

Dominoes typically refer to the collective gaming parts that make up a domino
package (sometimes referred to as a deck or pack) or to the sub-category of tile
games played with domino parts. The term domino also refers to any rectangle
formed by joining two congruent squares from edge to edge in the field of
mathematical tilings and polyominoes. A domino set may consist of different
numbers of tiles and dots. The traditional Sino-European domino set consists of 28
dominoes. The totals for all common domino sets are presented in the following
table:

Domino Set Number of Tiles Number of Dots

Double Six (6-6) 28 168
Double Nine (9-9) 55 495
Double Twelve (12-12) 91 1092
Double Fifteen (15-15) 136 2040

Benefits from Playing Dominoes

As any indoor recreation game, playing dominoes provides fun and

opportunity for interaction among family members. At the same time, the game
provides learning opportunities to stimulate the critical thinking and decision making.
It also develops social skills and builds character.
