ASC 12 MODULE 2a - Laboratory Activity 2

The document describes a laboratory activity on the external anatomy of farm animals. The objectives are for students to illustrate and label the external parts of farm animals and understand their importance. The activity involves students visiting online resources to find illustrations of external anatomy for chickens, ducks, swine, goats, and cattle. They will then draw and label the parts for each animal.

Laboratory Activity No.2

External Anatomy of Farm Animals

Introduction

External anatomy of farm animals is the study of external structure of the farm animal
and their functions. It deals with the structural organization of living things. It assesses the
health of the animal, aid in judging animal based on the breed characteristics and determine
the purpose of the animal.

Objectives

At the end of the exercise, the students are expected to:

1. Illustrate and Label the external parts of farm animals; and

2. Realize the importance of being familiar with the parts and functions of the external
parts of farm animals.

Materials

Learning Center or Campus Library/ Internet source

Laerning Activity

1. The students will have to visit the internet, search for the illustrations of the
external anatomy of male and female Chicken, Duck, Swine, Goat and Cattle.

2. Draw and label the parts of the listed farm animals above.

3. Use the format below per Animal and Animal Type

Guide Questions

1. Which part/s are chicken and ducks different from each other?

1. Why is it important to know and be familiar with the parts and functions of the
external parts of the farm animals?
It is important to know and be familiar with the parts and functions of the
external parts of the farm animals in order to know where internal parts are located,
you have to be knowledgeable about the external anatomy as well. Internal anatomy is
always related with externals, thus, giving us a hint about what organs could be found
beneath an external feature of an organism by just simply looking at it. Another thing
is to know what you are going to do when there is an animal emergency also in
vaccination to know where are you going to inject the said vaccine.

2. Enumerate the parts where the following animals are vaccinated:

a. Chicken
 Neck
 Thigh
b. Swine
