EVA4400 product families. part being replaced or a ninety-day period that begins upon installation
of the replacement part, whichever is greater.

Before you begin


Observe the following precautions when replacing a fan module.

NOTE:
Port-colored (purple) latches on components like the fan module
means the component is hot-swappable. It can be removed and
replaced without having to power the system down.
There are two fan modules on the back of the disk enclosure.
See Figure 1 for the locations.

Verifying component failure


Use the following methods to verify component failure:
• Analyze any failure messages received. Fault monitoring software 15803

from HP (WEBES) provides a recommended action.

• For the EVA4400 only: Check the status using HP Command View
EVA:
1. In the Navigation pane, select Storage system > Hardware >
Disk Enclosure. Verifying proper operation
2. In the Disk Enclosure Properties pane, select the Cooling tab. After replacing the fan module, check the following to verify the
component is operating properly:
3. The Operational state of Fan 1 or Fan 2 should be Failed.
• Check the system fan status LEDs. NOTE:
• Green = Normal operation. Wait one minute for the system to check the component status.
• Amber = Fault condition.
• Off = Fan unseated from connector or failed.
• Verify the green status indicator is lit. If the green LED fails to
illuminate, try reseating the fan in the enclosure.

Removing a fan module • EVA440 only: From HP Command View EVA, navigate to the
component as described in Verifying component failure and check
1. Push up on the mounting latch (1, Figure 2). the status. It should be .
2. Position one hand under the fan module, and with the other hand,
pull the fan module out of the enclosure (2).

Installing a fan module


1. Insert the fan module into the enclosure opening.
2. Push the fan module into the enclosure until a click is detected
when fully seated.
