There are several types of computer applications: 1) Embedded systems are small computer programs embedded in devices like mobile phones and digital diaries. 2) Windows applications are standard desktop programs like Microsoft Word. 3) Web applications are collections of web pages hosted on web servers and accessed through browsers. 4) Web services provide services to other applications over the internet, like search engines. 5) Console applications run in command prompts and are commonly used for testing.

Different types of computer applications

1.Embedded Systems:- When we save a name, address and other information in to our Mobile Phone or Digital
Diary, You know How it gets saved in it? Nothing but which is a small computer program 'Embedded' into a chip in
the device inside the mobile phone or digital diary known as Embedded Systems.

2. Windows applications (also called 'Desktop applications'):- Windows Applications is a form based
standard Windows, Microsoft word; Paint is example to the Windows application, and also called 'Desktop
applications'.

3. Web Applications;- A web site is also called 'web Applications'. A web applications is a collection of web
pages hosted on a special computer called 'web server'. Web server can be located anywhere and visitors can be
located anywhere .It will work through Browsers (EG. Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Netscape).

4. Web Services:- Web services are web applications that give services to other applications through the internet,
example Google search engine, Yahoo Search engine etc. which allows other applications to delegate the task of
searching over the internet.

5. Console applications:- Console applications runs inside the command prompt i.e. DOS window, It is a light
weight program and which is used commonly for test applications.

Batch processing system:- A batch processing system is one where programs and data are collected together in
a batch before processing starts. Each piece of work for a batch processing system is called a job. A job usually
consists of a program and the data to be run. Jobs are stored in job queues until the computer is ready to process
them. There is no interaction between the user and the computer while the program is being run. Computers which
do batch processing often operate at night. Example: Payroll - when a company calculates the wages for its
workforce and prints pay slips. Batch processing has these benefits:

1.It allows sharing of computer resources among many users and programs,

2.It shifts the time of job processing to when the computing resources are less busy,

3.It avoids idling the computing resources with minute-by-minute manual intervention and supervision,

4.By keeping high overall rate of utilization, it better amortizes the cost of a computer, especially an expensive one.

A real-time application:- A real-time application (RTA) is an application program that functions within a time
frame that the user senses as immediate or current. The latency must be less than a defined value, usually measured
in seconds. Whether or not a given application qualifies as an RTA depends on the worst-case execution time
(WCET), the maximum length of time a defined task or set of tasks requires on a given hardware platform. The use
of RTAs is called real-time computing (RTC)
Management information system.;- A management information system is a system or process which
provides information needed to manage organizations effectively. Management information systems are regarded to
be a subset of the overall internal controls procedures in a business, which cover the application of people,
documents, technologies, and procedures by management accountants to solve business problems such as costing a
product, service or a business-wide strategy. Management information systems are distinct from regular information
systems in that they are used to analyze other information systems applied in operational activities in the
organization. MIS provides the following advantages.

1. It Facilitates planning: MIS improves the quality of plants by providing relevant information for sound decision
making. Due to increase in the size and complexity of organizations, managers have lost personal contact with the
scene of operations.

2. In Minimizes information overload: MIS change the larger amount of data in to summarized form and there by
avoids the confusion which may arise when managers are flooded with detailed facts.

3. MIS Encourages Decentralization: Decentralization of authority is possibly when there is a system for
monitoring operations at lower levels. MIS is successfully used for measuring performance and making necessary
change in the organizational plans and procedures.

4. It brings Co ordination: MIS facilities integration of specialized activities by keeping each department aware of
the problem and requirements of other departments. It connects all decision centers in the organization .

5. It makes control easier : MIS serves as a link between managerial planning and control. It improves the ability
of management to evaluate and improve performance. The used computers has increased the data processing and
storage capabilities and reduced the cost.

6. MIS assembles, process, stores, Retrieves, evaluates and disseminates the information.

Analytical marketing system: - Analytical marketing system is a type of marketing information system where
research data are interpreted using computerized analytical techniques. The database in such a system is composed
of a statistical bank of information, which enables marketers to draw conclusions from data using statistical
procedures such as multivariate analysis, and a model bank of information, which enables marketers to make better
marketing decisions using models. An analytical marketing system is used primarily in planning marketing strategy.

Marketing Intelligence System:- A set of procedures and sources used by managers to obtain everyday
information about developments in the mareting environment. Marketing managers collect marketing intelligence by
reading books, newspapers, and trade publications; talking to customers, suppliers, and distributors; monitoring
"Social Media" on the internet via online discussion groups; e-mailing lists and blogs and meeting with other
company managers.

Feedback:- Feedback describes the situation when output from (or information about the result of) an event or
phenomenon in the past will influence an occurrence or occurrences of the same (i.e. same defined) event /
phenomenon (or the continuation / development of the original phenomenon) in the present or future. When an event
is part of a chain of cause-and-effect that forms a circuit or loop, then the event is said to "feed back" into itself.

Information technology:- Information technology is "the study, design, development, implementation, support
or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware",
According to the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA). IT deals with the use of electronic
computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and securely retrieve information.
