General Instructions: Hand Tools Using Instruction
General Instructions
1. Hand tools are suitable for their purpose, they will only be used for the work for which they are
made and will not be used for any other purpose.
2. Maximum care will be taken when working with hand tools.
3. Behaviors that may harm yourself and others will be avoided while using hand tools.
4. No jokes will be made with hand tools.
5. Hand tools will be properly stored.
6. The wooden handles of the hand tools will be of good quality, in appropriate shape and size.
7. Hand tools used in places and works where sparks are dangerous shall be of non-sparking type.
8. As soon as the head parts of the hand tools used for impact (hammers, chisels, etc.) start to cork
and crack, they will be leveled to a suitable slope and corrected.
9. Sharp-edged or pointed hand tools will be kept under the protection of sharp edges and tips when
not in use.
10. Hand tools shall not be left in passages, stairwells, places where workers pass and high places.
11. Hand tools should be thoroughly checked before starting to work. Hand tools with cracked
handles, worn, broken, unsafe, loose handles should not be used.
12. Periodic checks should be made.
13. Hand tools that have completed their technical life should not be used.
14. Sharp and pointed hand tools shall not be carried in pockets.
15. Personal protection suitable for the hand tool used must be used.
WRENCH
1. Keys suitable for the job will always be selected. In order to increase the tightening power of the
wrenches, pipes etc. will not be passed.
2. Keys in good condition should be used. Even if a bent key is straightened, it will not be used as it
may lose its strength.
3. No more torque shall be applied to the wrenches than they cannot withstand.
If necessary, a different type key of the same size with a longer handle and therefore more durable will
be used.
4. No key shall be used as a hammer.
5. The machine will be stopped before starting to work with the key on the working machine.
6. When using a toad wrench, the direction of turning the wrench should always be towards the
movable jaw. Otherwise, the load will get on the movable jaw and will cause the key to break.
7. Adjustable wrenches should be placed in such a way that they grasp the nuts from the middle of the
jaw.
8. The chin caterpillars should not be eaten.
9. There will be a suitable distance between the key and the person using it. When using the key in
narrow places, a position that will not harm the user will be taken.
10. They will be fixed with brake devices preventing their mobility.
11. Unused keys will not be left around, they will be kept in tool bags under appropriate conditions.
SCREWDRIVER
1. While choosing the screwdriver, it should be noted that the width of the tip is suitable for the head
size of the screw and the thickness of the tip is suitable for the screw slot.
2. Screwdrivers with cracked or broken handles shall not be used.
3. Before the screws are mounted, a slot should be opened with the help of a drill or nail, and after the
screw is placed in this slot, it should be tightened with a screwdriver.

4. If the ends of the screwdrivers are not smooth, they will be corrected by grinding or leveling with a
file and then used.
5. The body will be balanced before using the screwdriver on the stepladder.
6. Screwdriver; stapler, chisel, pliers etc. will not be used for any purpose.
7. Non-insulated screwdrivers shall not be used for work on electrical equipment and systems.
8. Unused screwdrivers will not be left around, they will be kept in tool bags under appropriate
conditions.
9. Do not use screwdrivers to remove parts in the palm. The tip of the screwdriver may slip, resulting
in injury to the palm.
CUTTER – AX
1. Axes and cutters will be checked before use. In axes and hacksaws, the handles will fit well and the
handles will not be cracked. The blades of the ax and blades will be sharp and undeformed.
2. The handles will be kept free of oil and similar slippery substances.
3. Nails shall not be fixed to the head parts. When loosening is seen, it will be replaced with a new one.
4. Cutting and chipping in cutting and chipping tools will be from top to bottom.
5. No staff member will use his ax or ax without looking around and seeing that other fellows are at a
safe distance. No cutting or chipping will be done towards the other person.
6. A team will always be extended by the handle to another person, and will be released when the
other party has grasped the extended handle of the team and is confident that they are in command

do not harm the personnel.
HAMMERS
1. The type of traction suitable for the characteristics of the work will be selected. The head of the
hammer will be firmly engaged with the handle. There will be no cracks or breaks in the handle or
hammer.
2. Hammers shall not be oily or greasy.
3. Nails shall not be fixed to the head parts. When loosening is seen, it will be replaced with a new one.
