1.5 Directions for Use

1.5.1 Installation of battery monitoring unit
Series battery inspection device belongs to precise measuring instrument and the following
conditions should be paid attention to during the installation:
1. Far away from heat source and interference source. It is suggested not to install the battery data
logger in the following positions:
Place near charging module (with the purpose of avoiding heat and electromagnetic interference),
air channel outlet of charging module (with the purpose of avoiding heat) and sealed battery
cupboard and inside the battery room (with the purpose of avoiding acid)
2. As the monitoring line of battery data logger is directly connected to the terminal of batteries,
protection end provided with the machine must be used for preventing from the dangers of high
voltage and short-circuit.
 Notice
The function of protection end of the batteries is to avoid short-circuit or other abnormalities and
protect monitoring line and battery when the monitoring line of the battery is connected to the end
of battery data logger. Battery monitoring unit must be used together with its protection end.

1.5.2 Debugging of battery data logger

The debugging of battery data logger mainly consists of the following steps:
1. Address setting
The address of battery data logger is set by hardware and its setting switch S1 is located in the
ZLBM-1 voltage measurement module with specific setting methods as follows:
When the corresponding position of address selection switch points to ON, this position is 0; when
the corresponding position points to OFF, this position is 1 with the high and low positions of
address arranged as shown in the following figure.

Fig. 1-5 Schematic Diagram of Dial Switch

Among those, 1-4 is the binary coding numerical digit of the address and is arranged from low to
high. For example, the address represented by the address selection switch in the Fig. 1-5 is 0001
(Binary system) =1(Decimal system).

 Notice
The address of battery data logger set in the monitoring module is generally 112-116.

2. Power line and connection of communication line

Series battery inspection device adopts 220V DC power supply and is connected to the bus of DC
power supply. Foot 1 is connected with 220V+ while Foot 2 is connected with 220V-.
The communication connecting line of monitoring module is used for monitoring the connection
between monitoring module and battery data logger. The communication method is RS 485.
3. Monitoring module setting
The monitoring module is set at both user level and maintenance level and the following operation
is conducted respectively.
1) Setting at the maintenance level
The main contents of setting at the maintenance level include:
The number of battery data logger—determined by the number of ZLBM-1 board.
The number of communication port—determined by serial port actually connected by battery data
logger.
The address of battery data logger—set by dial switch on the battery data logger ZLBM-1.
The number of monomer batteries in the battery pack is determined according to the usage of
battery pack.
2) Setting at the user level
Setting at the user level is relatively simple. After entering into the setting at the user level, the
following operation is mainly conducted:
When the monomer voltage of battery goes through the high (low) point, the monomer voltage of
end cells goes through the high (low) point.

1.5.3 Precautions for operation

There is a red power indicator light and operation indicator light on the panel of battery data
logger. After connecting to the power, power indicator light is turned on and may remain on
permanently under the normal conditions.
Operation indicator light-it is used for indicating the operating conditions and may remain on
under the normal conditions. In case of failure, operation indicator light is off.
