1) MACHANICAL PARTS

1. Compressor : Compressor is an important part of refrigerator which suc low pressure low
temperature vapour from suction line and convert into high pressure high temperature vapour
refrigerant by compressing.

Reciprocating types compressor is used in fridge which comes under 1/12, 1/10, ⅛, ¼,½, hp etc.
R 134a refrigerant is used which pressure should around 12 to 15 psig. And also u can see the amount of refrigerant
on fridge it is mantioned already by company.

2. Condenser : Condenser is also a important part of refrigerator which is used to extract the heat
from refrigerant into atmosphere and convert HP & HT Vapour Refrigerant into HP & HT Liquide
Refrigerant.
Rod fin & Tube type and plate & Tube type Condenser are used in refrigerator (Fridge).

3. Filter & Drier : it is use to absorb moisture & filter the refrigerant and gives pure refrigerant to
Capillary Tube.

4. Capillary Tube : it is a very important part of fridge which is use to restrict the flow of refrigerant
and convert HP & HT Vapour liquide into LP & LT Liquide Refrigerant.
it is also create High side & Low side in System.
Capillary Tube size 0.022,0.023,0.025,0.028, 0.031,0.032 etc. Length of Capillary Tube should be 8 to 12 feet,
Note: whenever u go to change the Capillary Tube from any fridge or refrigeration system first u check what is the
size of old Capillary Tube same one u replace.
5. Cooling Coil : it is also a part of fridge which is use inside and top side in fridge, it's work to
provide cooling inside and absorb the heat from inside space and gives to refrigerant as LP & LT
vapour refrigerant.
Plate & Tube type cooling Coil is used in refrigerator.

2) ELECTRICAL PARTS & IT'S TESTING

1. Compressor : It has also electrical parts that is it's winding which is install inside of it. There are three
terminals comes from inside to outside and and other machanical & electrical parts silled by Dom ( which
is made by Cas iron). These three terminal has it's own name and with the help this we find out electrical
failure or do testing of it.
Those name are CSR.
C - COMMON,
S - STARTING
R - RUNNING

WHAT IS COMMON, RUNNING & STARTING TERMINALS

There are two type of winding, with help of which we make COMMON, RUNNING & STARTING TERMINALS,
those windings are RUNNING winding & STARTING winding.

WHAT IS RUNNING & STARTING WINDING?

Running & Starting winding is just Coil which is made by copper wire but difference is this that starting winding
resistance is more than running winding.
It means that the number of turns in Starting winding is more than the number of turns in Running winding.

HOW TO MAKE COMMON, RUNNING & STARTING TERMINALS

starting & Running these both winding has two point (terminals) , when we take one point from starting winding
and another from running winding and joint these two points together and make one point that is called COMMON
TERMINAL and now one point is left from starting winding that will be STARTING TERMINAL and another
point which is left from running winding that will be RUNNING TERMINAL.

HOW TO FIND OUT COMMON, RUNNING & STARTING TERMINALS BY MULTIMETER OR SERIES TEST LAMP

Before testing and find out the terminals always u remember one thing, that is,
Note 1 :- The resistance between RUNNING & STARTING terminals will be more campare to others two terminals.
Note 2 :- The resistance between COMMON & STARTING terminals will be less than RUNNING & STARTING
and more than COMMON & RUNNING terminals.
Note 3 :- The resistance between RUNNING & STARTING TERMINALS will be less campare to others.

By multimeter,
First of all we will set the multimeter on continiouty & resistance and then get touch the both probes of multimeter
to the all three terminals of Compressor one by one (Like :- 1-2, 2-3, 3-1) and will see on which two terminals the
resistance value is coming more that will be RUNNING and STARTING terminal ( Suppose that 2 and 3 no
terminals has more resistance than others then these will be R & S) and therefore which terminal will be Left ( 1 no
terminal is LEFT) that will be COMMON terminal,
Here we have found COMMON TERMINAL and now we have to find RUNNING & STARTING TERMINALS
SO here to find these terminals we have to touch one probe of multimeter to COMMON and another probe to 2 no
and 3 no terminals one by one, and see on which terminal resistance value is more that will be STARTING
TERMINAL and on which terminal resistance value is less than all that will be RUNNING TERMINAL.

HOW TO CHECK COMPRESSOR IS GOOD/BAD

Note :- All three terminals of Compressor should show the continiouty with one another and with Ground or
Compressor body continiouty should not show in this condition Compressor will be consider Good otherwise
Compressor will be consider bad.

2) RELAYS :- It is a kind of electrical part of fridge which help to start Compressor.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When we give the power supply to relay to start the Compressor then that time relay short for a while both terminals
starting and running together and after 5 second start Compressor this relay separate this both terminal and
Compressor runs only on running winding.

HOW MANY TYPES OF RELAYS ARE USED?

There are 5 types of Relays are use in refrigerator that is,
1) Current relay / Open type relay
2) Box type relay
3) L. M. S relay
4) PTC relay
5) Voltage type relay

1) CURRENT RELAY / O.T RELAY :- It is also called Open type relay because it's Coil is OPEN which is
visible from outside. It has total 3 point first is for LINE where we give supply to this relay and another two
points are for RUNNING & STARTING Terminals

HOW TO FIND WHICH POINT IS FOR RUNNING TERMINAL & WHICH ONE IS FOR
STARTING.
Here, first of all we have to take a series test lamp or multimeter, if we are checking by series test lamp
then
We will get touch one wire of series test lamp is on LINE one point mean on relay where given supply and
another wire will get touch these both left points one by one on which point STL Bulb will blow that point
will called Ruuning Terminal but this is not 100%cheking of relay here we to do one more process that we
have to do relay upside to down and then again we have check same like that here in both conditions buld
will blow that will be sure RUNNING TERMINAL.
HOW TO CHECK RELAY IS BAD OR GOOD
In first condition of relay checking we wild find that on one terminal of relay bulb is blow and on another terminal
bulb not blow so here relay will consider 50% Good and then in second condition of relay checking we will find that
on both terminals bulb is blow then that will called 100% GOOD.
But here bulb will blow is same as first condition then relay will consider bad.
2) BOX TYPE RELAY :- It's work is same like all relay but it's design is a little bit different from that. It
thas also a Coil which is inside of a Box that's why this called BOX TYPE RELAY. And It has one
additional point that is COMMON point.

3) L. M.S RELAY:- It's working Sam like every relay design is changed.
4) PTC RELAY:- It's full name is positive temperature coefficient. That's mean when the temperature
of this relay will be high then it's resistance will increase and when it's temperature will be low then
it's resistance will decrease.
CHECKING :- It has tolat 3 point 1st one for line supply and anoth

CHECKING :- It has tolat 3 point 1st one for line supply and another two points are for RUNNING
& STARTING Terminals.
So when u go to check this relay then first u set set ur multimeter in Ohms buzzer and thereafter 1)
one probe of multimeter touch to L Point and another touch one by one to both points here u will get
sound of buzzer to this both terminals. 2) inrease the temperature of relay and then check same like
that and here u will get that the sound of buzzer is coming at only one point and another point has
not sound coming. So will be conferm that at which point buzzer sound is coming that point will be
RUNNING and anther will be starting.
If again buzzer sound coming on the both terminals after increase it's temperature then this relay
will consider bad.

VOLTAGE TYPE RELAY :- It is looks like a Box type relay but it has given 4 point (1,2,4 & 5).
it is not used in fridge it is used in window ac or which ac that's Compressor not getting start so we
use running and starting Capacitor with help of this relay and then we try to start the Compressor.
3) CAPACITOR :- It is also an electric part which is used in fridge, AC, INDUCTION MOTORS, FAN
MOTORS to start or run continuously.

There are generally two types of capacitor

1) Running capacitor
2) Starting capacitor

1) Running Capacitor :- It work is to run the motor, FAN Compressor etc continuously. It's unit is UF. it can
be charged with series test lamp.
TESTING :- Put the both wire of test lamp on both point of capacitor terminals for 5 sec and short them if

sound will come it's mean Capacitor is OK.

2) Starting Capacitor :- it work is only to start the motor. Ac Compressor, or Fan motor. It's unit is MFD. It
can't be charged. It will be check by multimeter.

3) THERMOSTAT :- It is a kind of electrical part of refrigeration system. Which is used to control the
temperature . It has a sensing bulb which sense the temperature of it's sorrounding area and according to
the set point of temperature.
It is cut-in and cut-out the power supply of Compressor.
TESTING:- there are mainly two point for electricity first is for L in and another is L out. And It has also a
temp sensing buld in which a kind chemical used that's work is press the bellows down and up according
temp. When the temperature will higher than set point then it will press the bellow down and both the
electrical points will connect together. When the temp of inside will lower than set point at that time then
both electrical points will be cut-out.
