Activity1 MMW

This document contains math problems involving patterns, exponential growth models, Fibonacci numbers, the Golden Ratio, and exponential growth models. It asks to determine the next number in a pattern, calculate population growth using an exponential model, evaluate a Fibonacci expression, calculate length using the Golden Ratio, find a Fibonacci number using prior terms, and determine the time for an exponentially growing value to reach a target amount.

Activity 1

1. Determine what comes next in the pattern: 5, 14, 27, 44, 65, _____
2. The exponential growth model 𝐴 = 50𝑒 0.07𝑡 describes the population of a municipality in
Pangasinan in thousands, 𝑡 years after 1997. What is the population of the municipality in
2037?
3. Using Binet’s formula, evaluate 𝑓27 + 2𝑓22.
4. If you have a canvas that is 2 meters wide, how long should you cut it such that the Golden
Ratio is observed? Use 𝜑 = 1.618.
5. Given that 𝑓32 = 2,178,309 and 𝑓30 = 832,040, what is 𝑓31? Use the given to compute 𝑓31.
Do not make use of Binet’s formula here.
Bonus Question.
1. A lot in an exclusive subdivision is purchased for PhP 1,000,000 in 2002. The value of the lot is
given by the exponential growth model 𝐴 = 1,000,000𝑒 0.645𝑡 . Find 𝑡 when the lot would be
worth PhP 5,000,000.
