B. Greetings

Good Afternoon Class!

Good Afternoon Ma'am
Before you will take your sit let us have an
energizer first.
(The students will remained standing.)

You may now take your seat. Energizer dance - Sid Continental Drift

C. Checking of Attendance

Now, let us check first your attendance.

Say present if your name is called.

Agustin, Ronie.

A. Preparation Present Ma'am

a. Review

Before we will start to our new lesson this

afternoon.Who can still recall the last topic
that we have discussed?
Ma'am
Yes, Aprillyn.
Our last discussion was all about 3D.
Can you give me an example of a 3D?

Very Good! You really listen to our discussion.

b. Motivation

Who among you here wants to hear a story?

Now, I have a story.

All of us Ma'am
Sarah is a Grade 6 pupil. She loves to play
pupies.In her younger age she have a
collection of pupies. Actually, she have 2
bulldogs, and 3 chiwawas. On her graduation
day, her Aunt from America suprisingly give
her a two new pupies. She was very happy
because she like it very much. She planned to
put it near to her bed. Now, the problem is
that she dont know the measurement of the
length and the width of the fence.

Would you like to help Sarah to measure her

new fence?
Now, this afternoon we will have an activity.
Everybody read the directions.

.
Yes, Ma'am.

Directions.Using the tiles in the floor you are

going measure using your footsteps in getting
the two horizontal and the two vertical sides
of a shape. One footstep is equivalent to one
count.List the sides on the board. After it, add
the four sides together. The group that will
Am I clear class? finish first will be declared as winner.
Start count. TASK: Measure the rectangular fence.
Proceed now to your group. Yes Maam.

Now, if you will receive gift coming from your

aunt or your loved ones, what will say?

We say thank you as a sign of our appreciation.

How did you feel when you receive a gift?

Yes, we should be grateful in everthing that

we receive. Thank you!

Now, I have here a questions regarding to

your activity.
being grateful of the gift that I receive.
In the rectangular fence, how many footsteps
in horizontal sides did you get?

How about the vertical sides?

How many are in all?

Do you know what do we call these

side of the shape?
There are 5 footsteps.
Did you know that there are formulas in
getting the perimeter of a rectangle? There are 15 footsteps.

B. Presentation

Now, be with me this afternoon because we No Ma'am

are going to discuss about,

Everybody read !
No maam.

C. Discussion

But before that, these are the learning

objectives for us to be guided throughout the Area and Perimeter of Shapes
lesson.

Everybody read!

At the end of the lessons, the pupils will be

able to:

a.) define perimeter and area;

b.) give importance of area and

perimeter in our daily lives: and;
Now, let us define first what is Perimeter.
Everybody read.Here in this shape square c.) solve the problems using the formula
these is the perimeter. of area and perimeter of square,rectangles,
triangles, parallelograms and trapezoid.
s
s s
Perimeter- is the distance around the outside
s of an object.
Wherein, it is the path that sorround a two-
dimensional shape. It is also the length of the
outline of the shape.

Let's find out the perimeter of a square. Here

is the formula to be followed;

P=4s wherein, P stands for Perimeter,

add the four sides together.

Let us have an example no.1.

1.) 4cm

2cm 2cm

4cm

Find the perimeter of this square?

What are the four sides?

Add, it becomes?

Did you understand class ?

P=4s
I prepare here another example for you to be
solve. Cerilo solve it on the board. 4cm+2cm+4cm+2cm

P=12cm.

Yes, Ma'am

Exersice 1. Find the perimeter?

5 cm

Lets proceed! 7cm 7cm

On the other hand. Everybody read the 5 cm

meaning of the Area.
W
In this square, this is now the area.
L
cm

Area can be defined as the space occupied by

a flat shape or a surface of an object.

The area of this is the shaded part.

Area is measured in square units; such as

centimeters, square feet and inches.

Now in the mathematics there is a formula in

finding the area of a square.

Formula: A=s²

Wherein, A stands for Area, then multiply the

number of area by itself.For example.

Find the area of a square?

5cm

What is the formula of the area of the square?

What is now the area in this example?

What is the answer?

How did we get 25? A=s²

Very Good! A=(5)²

Who can solve this example? A=25cm.2

Yes, Mangindo. By multiplying the number of area by itself.

10
cm Exercise 2.Find the Area of a square?
Now, since you already know how to find the area
and perimeter of a squre. Lets have another shape.

Next is the Rectangle.

Formula: P = L + w + L + w, or P = 2L + 2w

A=L×W A, Area
L - length
W- width
(×)- multiply
In this example, can you find now the perimeter
and area by just following the formula?
Now, Joralden find the perimeter of this rectangle. Yes, Maam.
Show your solutions on the board
Exercise 3. Find the Area and Perimeter?

14cm

3cm 3cm
What is now the Area?
How about the Perimeter?
14 cm

It is correct ? A = 42 cm.
Did you now understand in getting the area and
perimeter of a rectangle ? P = 34 cm.
Lets proceed now to the Triangle. Yes, Ma'am
Formulas:
Yes, Ma'am.
P= a + b + c
A = bh/2
wherein, b - base,
h - height
a, b, c, - sides

For example:
Find the Area and Perimeter of a triangle?
What is the Area of a triangle in this example?

A= 1/2 bxh

A= (9cm)(6cm)

A= 54cm²

How about the Perimeter of a triangle? A = 27 cm.²

Did you understand class? P= 23 cm.

Next will be Parallelogram. Yes maam.

Formula:
A = b * h, A - Area,
b - base
h - height

P = CA + AB + BD + DC

For example.

Find the Perimeter and Area of the

Parallelogram?

1.)

Formula:
P = CA + AB + BD + DC

P=?

CA = BD = 6 cm.

AB = DC = 12 cm.

P= 18 cm.

On the other hand this is the Area:

A=b*h A=b*h

A=? A = (5cm)(12cm)

b = 5cm A = 60cm.2

This time we will have another example to be

answer by Alloisah.

Find the Area and Perimeter of Parallelogram?

Very Good Alloisah!

Now, what is the area?

How did you get the area?

I find the area by multiplying the base times

What is the perimeter? height.

How did you get the perimeter?

I find the perimeter by simply adding the

distance of the outside of the parallelogram.
Lastly, the trapezoid.

b1

s1 h s2

b2
Formula:
A = ( b 1 + b2 ) h
2

P = b1 + b 2 + s1 + s2
Where,
s1 = side 1, s2 = side 2
h = height , b1 = base 1
b2 = base 2

For example.
Find the Area and Perimeter of a Trapezoid.
Formula:
A = ( b1 + b2 ) h
2
= ( 8 + 14 ) 11
2
= ( 22 ) 11
2
= 242
2
A = 121 units2
P = b1 + b 2 + s1 + s2
= 8 + 14 + 16 + 12
P = 50 units

No, maam.

Do you have questions regarding our topic this

afternoon ?
Perimeter- is the distance around the outside

D. Generalization

a flat shape or a surface of an object.

How about the area?

No maam.

Do you have questions regarding to our

discussion this afternoon?
