COVID-19 Special Requirements

1. This course will be offered online via Moodle and Webex, due to
the 80 persons/room limit and the 1.5 m social distance requirement.
2. We may resume in-person class if the CDC guidance is relaxed.

Webex online lecturing platform

1. The online lecture is usually live streamed at the same time of the
class.
1. Occasionally, I may upload pre-recorded lectures and notify you in advance.
2. The links to Webex meetings/lectures are provided in Moodle.
3. Text-based chatting and audio/video-based interaction are supported
4. Questions and interactions are encouraged using both text and audio.
5. You may speak with professor/TAs in Mandarin or English

Homework
1. Homework assignments will be posted on Moodle
2. Usually, homework is due 1 week from the date of its
assignment.
3. Homework questions are written in English
 You may answer homework in Mandarin
4. Submit your homework online via Moodle
 Homework submission must be in electronic form
 PDF files are preferred
5.Your graded homework will be returned online via
Moodle, usually 1 week from the date of submission.
Quiz
1. Quiz will be taken online, via Moodle
2. You will be able to see that a Quiz is scheduled on
Moodle, 24 hours before the quiz time.
3. Questions are written and answered in English
4. Grading of quiz is automatic and instantaneous
Exam
1. There will be 1 mid-term exam and 1 final exam.
2. At present, I plan to conduct both exams in-person in (at
least) 2 classrooms, to satisfy CDC requirements.
3. If the COVID-19 situation worsens and in-person exams
are not practical, I will implement online exams.
4. Questions are written in English
 You may answer in Mandarin
Lateness
1. No late homework/quiz/exam is accepted except:
 either an email notice in advance (24 hours) with acceptable
reasons
 or an official student absence application approved by the
NCKU online system (學生請假系統).
Grading Criteria
(subject to change)

1. Quizzes (10%)
2. Mid-term exam (25%)
3. Final exam (30%)
4. Homework (30%)
5. Attendance (5%).
