CE142P-2 Q3-B
Solve the following Problem
1. A rectangular concrete channel 12 ft. wide, and water flows in it uniformly at a depth of 4 ft. If
the channel drop 10 ft. in a length of 4,000 ft. what is the discharge? Assume n = 0.012
2. A channel 1 m wide and 1 m deep carries a flow of 0.62 m³ / s on a slope of 0.001 with n = 0.012.
The channel terminates in a free discharge ( note: free discharge means in critical condition of
flow). Find the normal depth and critical depth in the vicinity of the discharge.
3. Determine the critical slope for a smooth wooden flume of rectangular cross-section, 3.6 m wide
carrying 2.7 m³/s.
4. Determine the discharge of a concrete-lined canal of a trapezoidal cross-section, bottom width
1.5 m , depth of flow 1.5 m, side slopes 3 horizontal to 2 vertical, channel slope 3 m per 5,000 m.
Use n=0.013
5.
End here- Goodluck!!!!!
