Indications On Drawings of Important-A, Important-B Parts & Areas and Important-C Characteristics
Indications On Drawings of Important-A, Important-B Parts & Areas and Important-C Characteristics
1. SCOPE OF APPLICATION
This NES specifies the method to indicate Important-A and Important-B parts and areas and
Important-C characteristics on drawings or any other document related to engineering release.
2. TERMINOLOGY
Definitions of the major terms used in this standard is found in NES D 0105 (Automotive drawing
specifications) and JIS Z 8114 (Drafting terminology).
3. SYMBOLS
Use the symbols shown in Table 1, below, to indicate Important-A and Important-B parts and areas and
Important-C characteristics on drawings and any other documents related to engineering release.

4. DRAWING NOTATION
(1) Display a large symbol (Ф12), shown in Table 1, in the designated column in the title block
(IMPORTANT PART SYMBOL column) to indicate an Important-A part or area or Important-B part or
area and Important-C characteristics on drawing.
See Figure 1 below for example.
Figure 1
(2) Display only the Important-A symbol if among Important-A, Important-B and Important-C characteristics
apply to the same drawing.
In the same manner, display only the Important-B part or area if both Important-B characteristics and
Important-C characteristics apply to the drawing.
(3) Display the symbol in the title block of the each divided drawing.

4.3 Indication of Characteristic Items and Figures
Use the following method to indicate Important-A, Important-B and Important-C characteristics and
characteristic values on drawings and any other documents related to engineering release.
(1) Enclose the characteristic item and figures in the designated border and display a small symbol (Ф7)
on upper left or upper right corner on the outside of the border.
See Figure 3 below for example.

(2) Enclose each Important-A or Important-B or Important-C characteristic, or figure, individually and
display a small symbol (Ф7).
(3) Enclose each characteristic and item individually when all specifications, remarks, and notes on the
drawing are Important-A characteristic, Important-B item, or Important-B or Important-C characteristic.
Display a small symbol (Ф7) for each.
