Indications on Drawings of Important-A , Important-B


N E S Parts & Areas and Important-C characteristics

1. SCOPE OF APPLICATION
This NES specifies the method to indicate Important-A and Important-B parts and areas and
Important-C characteristics on drawings or any other document related to engineering release.

2. TERMINOLOGY
Definitions of the major terms used in this standard is found in NES D 0105 (Automotive drawing
specifications) and JIS Z 8114 (Drafting terminology).

3. SYMBOLS
Use the symbols shown in Table 1, below, to indicate Important-A and Important-B parts and areas and
Important-C characteristics on drawings and any other documents related to engineering release.

4. DRAWING NOTATION

4.1 Indication in Title Block

(1) Display a large symbol (Ф12), shown in Table 1, in the designated column in the title block
(IMPORTANT PART SYMBOL column) to indicate an Important-A part or area or Important-B part or
area and Important-C characteristics on drawing.
See Figure 1 below for example.

(2) Display only the Important-A symbol if among Important-A, Important-B and Important-C characteristics
apply to the same drawing.
In the same manner, display only the Important-B part or area if both Important-B characteristics and
Important-C characteristics apply to the drawing.

(3) Display the symbol in the title block of the each divided drawing.

4.2 Indication in Difference Column


Display a small symbol (Ф7), shown in Table 1, in the difference column when Important-A parts,
Important-B parts and Important-C characteristics are among on the same drawing (e.g., on a group
drawing).
See Figure 2 below for example.

4.3 Indication of Characteristic Items and Figures
Use the following method to indicate Important-A, Important-B and Important-C characteristics and
characteristic values on drawings and any other documents related to engineering release.

(1) Enclose the characteristic item and figures in the designated border and display a small symbol (Ф7)
on upper left or upper right corner on the outside of the border.
See Figure 3 below for example.

(2) Enclose each Important-A or Important-B or Important-C characteristic, or figure, individually and
display a small symbol (Ф7).

(3) Enclose each characteristic and item individually when all specifications, remarks, and notes on the
drawing are Important-A characteristic, Important-B item, or Important-B or Important-C characteristic.
Display a small symbol (Ф7) for each.

ANNEX
1. Purpose of establishment
Due to the introduction of the Important-B parts and areas systems, symbols for the currently operated
Important-A parts and areas were changed, furthermore, symbols for the Important-B parts and areas
were newly established.

2. Purpose of revisions for the fiscal year '09


Due to the introduction of the Important-C characteristics, symbols for the Important-C characteristics
were newly established.
