EXTENSION PROGRAMME

INTRODUCTION

EXTENSION EDUCATION AND RAWE PROGRAMME

The word extension is derived from Latin word ‘Ex’ meaning out and ‘tension’ meaning

stretching. Extension is that type of education, which is stretched out to the people in the rural

area far and nears beyond the limits of the educational institutions, to which formal type of

education is usually concerned.

Education is an integral part of extension because of the fact that extension is pursued in

agriculture and may other discipline to educate, motivate and change the behavior of the people.

This particular branch of science is known as ‘extension education’.

OBJECTIVES OF THE EXTENSION EDUCATION

The fundamental objective of extension is to make the rural people economically, socially

and culturally strong through extension education. The general objectives of rural extension are:

1. To assist to identify their problems & their needs.

2. To develop leadership among people and help them in organizing groups to solve their

problems.

3. To collect and transmit feed back for solving their problems.

4. To disseminate agriculture information and practical importance in such a way that

people would be able to understand utilize if.

5. To developed communication skills in students by using teaching methods in transfer of

technology.

6. To developed confidence and competence to solve agriculture problem.

7. To assist people in mobilizing and utilizing resources which they have and which they

need from outside.

IMPORTANCE OF EXTENSION IN RAWE PROGRAMME

 The main objective of RAWE is to provide improved techniques, technical know-how

and skills to farmers and learn traditional knowledge and practical training. Beside it to

face different conditions prevailing in the village. Be familiar to socio-economic

conditions of farmer are also some outcome of RAWE. These objectives can only be

achieved by proper use of principle and method of extension.

 Extension provide us a understanding of village conditions, and farmers behavior with

the help of this understanding, we are able to do RAWE programmed successfully and

achieve its objectives.

 There is a goal between actual situation and what ought to be the desirable situation. This

gap can be narrowed by application of extension methods and bringing appropriate

change in behavior of farmer.

to carry out an entirely new practice or an old practice in better way.

Organic Farming:-Organic farming is the system of farming mean cultivation of crop


without use of chemicals & more use of organic manure like farm yard manure, compost, green
manure, vermin compost etc.

Importance of Vermi compost:-


1. Vermi compost increases the fertility of the soil.
2. It improve the water holding capacity.
3. It increases the physical & chemical property of soil.
4. Low cost of production.
5. Vermi compost contain 2.5% N, 1.5-2% P, 1.5-2% K.

Participation in Village Social Service Activity
Social service activities

1. Tree planting in a village :-

We organized this program of tree plantation to bring awareness among the people of our village
for global warming and deforestation and also about the problems which we are facing and we're going
to face in future.

This program was organized in school of village as the students are the future and care taker of
our country and also of our environment.

2 Giving information about the importance of cleanliness of hand , clothes etc.

This program was organised in primary school of village because we know that healthy
food becomes unhealthy with unhygenic hands and also about the disease which comes
in action due to unhygienic hands from which we inhale food. So , our motto for this
program was to bring awareness Among the children and the villagers for how to be
healthy and hygienic.

As a good soul resides in healthy body.

Independence Day is annually celebrated on 15 August, as a national


holiday in India commemorating the nation's independence from the United Kingdom on 15
August 1947, the UK Parliament passed the Indian Independence Act 1947 transferring
legislative sovereignty to the Indian Constituent Assembly. India still retained King George VI as
head of state until its transition to full republican constitution. India attained independence
following the Independence Movement noted for largely non-violent resistance and civil
disobedience led by the Indian National Congress (INC).

We are together in the village Choti Gurhati at 7:00am for celebrating
