Laboratory Exercise
Processes
Objective:

At the end of the exercise, the students should be able to:

 view and manage processes.

Software Requirements:

 VirtualBox for Windows


 Ubuntu ISO

Procedure:

1. Create a folder named LastName_FirstName (ex. Reyes_Ranika) in your Windows PC.


2. Create a Word document on your Windows PC (outside VirtualBox). Take screenshots of the
following and place them in your document.
• Result of the ps command
• Result of the ps x command
• Result of the ps aux command
• Output of the top program
• Result of the ls command upon placing top in the background
• Result of the jobs command
• Result of the ls command upon returning top to the foreground
3. Save the document as lab_exer04_1.docx in your folder.

GRADING RUBRIC:

Point Description
76 – 100 All the screenshots are present in the document and show the correct
output.
51 – 75 The results of the ls command upon placing top in the background
and returning top to the foreground are incorrect. Output of the jobs
command is incorrect.
26 – 50 The screenshots for results of the ls command upon placing top in
the background and returning top to the foreground are missing in the
document. Output of the jobs command is incorrect.
1 – 25 One (1) or two (2) screenshot(s) show the correct output.
