Reflection on my individual performance, behaviour and experience
in education at LSST
An overview of my experience regarding the PSKC module will be reflected in this
essay. Moreover, by using some examples I will also show how I become an
effective learner and improve myself after completing this module. While explaining I
will remind those moments of the sessions for pointing out my strengths and
weaknesses. Furthermore, some ways will be discussed that will help me to
overcome and fulfil the university's course-related challenges and expectations. In
order to develop and explain this reflective essay in a significant and meaningful way
Driscoll’s model of reflection (1994) will be used here.

In week 2, study session’s purpose was to give ideas about reading strategy and
how learners could easily determine reading style, a strategy which would help them
to get a better idea and knowledge about different academic related issues and
elements. The session was so informative and essential for the students that later
they able to understand the importance of knowing the reading skill strategy. Initially,
the session seemed very boring to me later I found that attending the session was a
must for me. Because I discovered that due to my lack of knowledge about reading
skills it took a huge time to complete any book within scheduled time. But now I have
improved my reading skill by following those techniques which I learned from that
session. My reading efficiency has been improved and now I can finish reading any
academic books, articles or newspapers within very shortest possible time.

In week 3, the purpose of the study session was to teach students how to reference,
cite sources by following Harvard style and provide a clear idea about plagiarism
related issues. I got surprised after knowing about the plagiarism detecting software
named 'Turnitin'. Previously it seemed quite challenging and difficult for me to do
citations correctly. But now I realise how easy and important it is actually. I wonder
by thinking of the speaker because the way he explained and cleared every query of
the students was highly appreciable. It's very essential to know the correct way of
doing referencing and citation. I believe in future if I have to do any citation of any
source, I can do that more effectively than before. By practising more and more now
I've improved myself in this regard. I think using source citation is very useful in
strengthening one's arguments and producing good coursework.

In week 7, the purpose of the formative feedback workshop was to let students
inform an appropriate way of writing a reflective essay and clear the concept of
reflective essay. I experienced different issues while writing any reflective essay and
submitting that as per teachers' instruction. For me that workshop was really useful
and important because my understanding and ability to write any reflective essay
have been improved after that. Watching YouTube videos, hand notes, assigned
textbook and course materials are some significant sources that helped me to
improve my writing skills. Now I know the basic difference between good and poor
reflective essays, besides learned the correct system of assignment submission on
LSST.

In week 9, study session’s purpose was to provide learners an overall guideline of a

good presentation and demonstrate the importance of communication skills. I
realised that both communication and presentation skills are needed for academic
and professional life (Dolan,2017). The speaker was so friendly and helpful that
every participant was very attentive, interactive and enjoyed the whole session. Later
the session I discovered that my non-verbal efficiency is not so good similar to verbal
efficiency. I experienced many difficulties while trying to give a presentation
professionally. Now for improving my presentation skill I watch different tutorials on
YouTube, read articles on this issue and rehearse multiple times.

In week 14, study session’s purpose was to teach learners some techniques that
would help them in solving out any problems creatively in future. Throughout the
whole session the speaker discussed different methods and tips that probably helpful
in solving out problems and suggested students practice and develop creative
thinking skills. I think the session was meaningful, interactive and I learned so many
interesting techniques that will assist me to become a creative thinker and good
problem solver. Perhaps, like me everyone became able to understand and realise
their flaws and weakness regarding this issue at the end of the session. The most
memorable tips that I can remember now is solving SUDOKU and taking NAP can
make a person more creative. I think the importance of problem-solving skills is
highly significant both in our academic and professional life. I believe by solving out
different business-related cases, watching videos on YouTube and reading varieties
articles about problem-solving techniques I can make myself more creative and
skilled in finding out solutions to different problems. Thus, I can able to overcome

uncertain situations, meet up future challenges, generate creative ideas and way out
different strategies to accomplish my desired goal and target.

In conclusion, I would like to say that this PSKC module and all the sessions help me
a lot to improve my different skills, accelerate my performance and give me a variety
of experiences. Most importantly, I get a chance to learn something new and able to
discover my weakness those need proper nurturing at the same time. For me week 9
is very much important and needed as gathered experience and knowledge from this
week will help me to groom up myself as an effective learner, communicator and
presenter for the future.
