Masterseal 545 en 1

MASTERSEAL 545 is a two-component, polymer-modified cementitious mortar for waterproofing concrete and masonry structures. It forms a flexible coating resistant to positive and negative hydrostatic pressure. The coating bridges cracks up to 0.4mm wide and withstands impacts, abrasion, thermal cycles, and water vapor permeability. Suitable applications include swimming pools, foundations, basements, balconies, and water distribution systems.

MASTERSEAL 545

Two-pack polymer-modified fine grade cementitious mortar, for the flexible and
continuous waterproof coating of concrete and masonry elements and structures

Definition of the material Features

MASTERSEAL 545 is a two-packs polymer-modified The features peculiar to MASTERSEAL 545 are:
fine grade cementitious mortar, specially formulated • impermeableness to water both under positive
for flexible and continuous waterproof coating of and negative hydrostatic pressure, preventing
concrete and masonry elements and structures. the ingress of water both under positive
pressure (i.e. with direct pressure of water
downwards onto the coating) and reverse
hydraulic or negative hydrostatic pressure
(pressure of water upwards through the
substrate onto the coating) is an essential
characteristic for a waterproof coating (water
temperature < 70°C);
• flexibility: the so-called crack bridging ability is
the capacity of the coating to remain intact
during the movement of existing cracks in the
concrete;
• compliance with Italian Ministerial Decree No.
174 of 6 April 2004 (Regulations concerning
materials and objects that may be used in

cementitious covering that is resistant both to positive supply and distribution of water intended for
(direct) and negative (reverse hydraulic) hydrostatic human consumption);
pressure, and is also distinguished by its crack • permeability to water vapour: high
bridging ability. Available in grey or white colour. permeability to water vapour is essential to
prevent vapour pressures being generated

To improve resistance to tensile stress in the case of
elements that could present cracks of more than 0.4

Curing
If the product is applied in particularly severe
conditions from a hygrothermometric point of view, i.e.
with low relative humidity, wind and sunlight, it is
advisable to protect the treated surfaces with
tarpaulins or carry out wet curing with fine water
spray. Whenever the product is not yet set it must be
protected against rain.
After 7 days MASTERSEAL 545 is fully cured and it
can be used for waterproofing purposes.

Mix thoroughly for a maximum of 3 minutes until a

smooth, lump-free fluid mix is obtained. Leave the mix
to rest for approx. 5 minutes so that the polymer can
completely disperse. Then mix again for a maximum
of 2 minutes. Maintain the same mixing ratio for the
various mixes used in the one application so that the
colour of the coating remains the same. The mix
remains workable for approx. 60 minutes at 20°C.

Application
Application may be by brush, roller, sleeker, spray
with 4 mm nozzle and pressure of 3-5 bar.
