Toutes les vérifications de machines, matériels etc. ainsi que les permis (permis d’excaver, permis feu,
etc.) devront être réalisés avant de débuter les travaux.
9. At the end of each week, a weekly return will be provided by Manchett to Yondr Group with all the
safety information.
Before carrying out any work on the project all MANCHETT operatives must receive the ISG induction and the
MANCHETT company induction — a copy of this method statement and signed briefing sheet must be kept in the
MANCHETT site safety file.
Before carrying out any work on site, all MANCHETT operators must read, understand and sign all relevant safe
systems of work, translation assistance must be provided if required.
The Logistics Manager must ensure all vehicles delivering plant must be booked in on the ISG delivery system and that
a safe area to unload or load is prepared and a Traffic Marshall present.
NOTE:
All delivery vehicles will on arrival, in the holding area and in the off-loading area(s) switch off their engines.
NOTE:
Any vehicle not booked will be refused entry to site.
All Plant machinery must have the correct documentation/ service records and plant cards located within a folder within
the vehicle at all times.
Any vehicle that is early and cannot be off-loaded will be sent to the holding area until its designated time. Any vehicle
that is late could be sent away to be re-booked, or if possible, sent to the holding area to wait until it can be off-loaded.
The telehandler operator will work in conjunction with a vehicle banksman when reversing
Before any movement of materials or unloading of deliveries takes place the telehandler operator will:
Check that all delivery pallets, lifting frames, crates etc. are in good condition and the loads are safely stacked to enable
safe off-loading. All loads must be secured safely using the appropriate loading restraints (ratchet straps / metal
restraints).
Ensure that the material to be lifted is within the SWL of the telehandler, the telehandler operator can confirm this with
the delivery driver / delivery note.
Ensure that the access route between the initial lift area / delivery vehicle and the allocated lay down is clear and safe
from any dangers. This includes open excavations, confined spaces, slopes and unstable/uneven ground.
Ensure that the work area is suitably segregated and marked and that no unauthorised person can enter the lifting area.
Ensure that the delivery driver does not leave his vehicle unattended at any time.
The telehandler will proceed to off load the materials in a safe manner and place into the designated Iay down area(s).
The speed limit when moving around on site is 10km/h.
When moving a load / material the speed should not exceed walking pace.
When moving materials over distance the load must be secured to the telehandler forks by ratchet strap(s)
When operating the hazard lights and the flashing beacon are always to be switched on .
The operator is not to put himself or others in danger at any time, the telehandler will be banked using hand signals at
all times when reversing.
The Operator will also maintain communications through a radio ensuring safe use of the radio whilst in control of the
vehicle. All operatives must pull over and only use radio communications when the vehicle is stationary and safe.
The operator is to approach a load with care ensuring that no unauthorised person is in the vicinity.
The forks are not to be raised until necessary and they should be lowered immediately following the clearance of
materiel from the lifting point i.e. the lorry bed.
Reversing on site will be kept to a minimum but if necessary, it is to be done with the use of a banksman. Good all-
round observation is to be maintained at all times. If at any time the area becomes unsafe for any reason all lifting
operations will stop until the area is made safe again.
The telehandler operator is to leave the telehandler in a safe manner and at no times is it to be left unattended with the
keys in the ignition.
Forks are to be left in the down position and tilted forward. When not in use the telehandler is to be parked in its
designated parking area, locked and the key returned to the MANCHETT office.
When the telehandler is moving around site without a load it is to have an empty pallet on the forks.
When utilising the bin carrier the telehandler operator must ensure that the attachment is secured to the forks using the
locking pins and that the bin retaining strap is used at all times when bins are inside
Refuelling
The telehandler is to be driven to the designated area and refuelling is only to be undertaken in this designated area,
the fuel bowser is to be double bunded and a drip tray, in place, a spill kit is to be available. Telehandler operatives are
to be familiar with the procedures for refuelling and for dealing with diesel spills, the ISG refuelling and spill procedures
are to be adhered to (copies attached)
At the start of each shift the logistics supervisor responsible for the plant will brief the telehandler operator & any
banksman in the taskings and dangers which will be actioned accordingly. All other lifting requirements come second to
this schedule unless otherwise instructed by the ISG site team.
All certificates of serviceability and testing are to be current and checked upon receipt of a new vehicle.
Only qualified operators are to operate a MANCHETT hired/owned telehandler. A copy of that operator's certificate is to
be held on file.
The operator is to ensure that a full inspection of the telehandler is carried out at the start of each shift with any findings
being reported immediately to the logistics manager. A thorough inspection is to be carried out weekly by a competent
person and the findings entered in the site Lifting register.
Telehandler Operator
Only staff aged 21 years and over and specifically trained and authorised to operate a telehandler may do so. It is a
prerequisite that before undertaking telehandler operating or training an individual must be in possession of a standard
driving license.
You must have read and understood the MANCHETT Health and Safety policy and carry out your work in accordance
with its requirements.
Ensure that you inspect the plant daily and report any defects immediately to your Supervisor.
You must record the daily inspections using the correct ISG plant passport forms.
Do Not use the equipment if there are serious defects.
Know the legal requirements affecting the use of your machine and ensure that it is only used in accordance with these
requirements.
Ensure that when operating your machine that a suitably competent banksman is available when you are reversing.
When using a banksman, ensure that he is always visible and that you obey his signals.
Ensure that when operating the telehandler the work area is suitably segregated and marked prevent unauthorised
entry.
When moving around the site the hazard beacon and hazard warning lights should be activated to ensure that others
are warned of potential movement.
Operate within the site speed limits 15km/h at all times and give way to pedestrians at crossing points.
Only use the machine for tasks for which it was designed.
Only use the correct attachments, ensuring that they are load tested and fit for purpose.
All lifting operations should be carried out in accordance with legal requirements and the respective Lifting plan. Ensure
when loading or unloading from the front fork area that the Telehandler engine is always switched off and the key
removed . Under no circumstances must the vehicle engine be left running when the operative is out of the cab. This
breaches operating instructions and Health and Safety regulations and will result in formal discipline.
The operative will be trained and fully competent with the use of the TELEHANDLER . Men
at Work bollards will be placed on the road before operations starts.
.
Cleaning of debris of the truck tyres will be conducted using a high pressure hose to all vehicles leaving the WTP2
construction site.

Guidelines:
- Risk rating: HIGH (>85dBa) / MEDIUM (80-85 dBa) / LOW (<80dBa) - 80dBA is the First Action Level –
hearing protection should be offered.
- 85dBA is the Second Action Level – hearing protection is mandatory.
- As a rough guide, if you have to raise your voice to be heard from 2 metres away, the noise will be approximately at the
first action level. If you are raising your voice to be heard at 1 metre away from the source, it is likely to be at the
second level
- Before resorting straight to PPE, look at the organisation of the work and consider if the risk can be reduced any other
way. For example by isolating the noisy work, reducing the number of people exposed, or the length of time someone is
working in the noisy environment.
- Noise ratings can be determined using a sound level meter. Should you require a noise assessment, please contact the
Health & Safety Dept.
- Download the Noise Exposure Calculator from http://www.hse.gov.uk/noise/calculator.htm to calculate exposure
from multiple activities or to calculate exposure duration before the action level is reached
- Don’t forget to take into account other persons working within the noisy area.
