4 Overview of Supporting Programs For Atp-Emtp: 4.1 Atpdraw
4 Overview of Supporting Programs For Atp-Emtp: 4.1 Atpdraw
4.1 ATPDraw
" Purpose:
ATPDraw is a graphical preprocessor to generate ATP input data file. It assists to create and edit
the model of the electrical network to be simulated, interactively. In the program the user can
construct an electric circuit, by selecting predefined components from an extensive palette. The
preprocessor then creates the corresponding ATP input file automatically in correct format.
ATPDraw currently supports about 70 standard components and 28 TACS objects. A simplified
usage of MODELS is also possible. In addition, the user can create his own circuit objects using
the Data Base Module and the $INCLUDE option of ATP. Both single-phase and 3-phase
circuits can be constructed. Multiple circuit windows are supported to work on several circuits
simultaneously and copy information between the circuits. Most types of edit facilities like
copy/paste, rotate, import/export, group/ungroup, undo and print are available. Other facilities in
ATPDraw are: a built-in editor for ATP-file editing, support of Windows clipboard for
bitmap/metafile, output of Windows Metafile/Bitmap file format or PostScript files.
The ATPDraw program can be found anonymously on the ftp sever ftp.ee.mtu.edu
(IP: 141.219.23.120) in the directory /pub/atp/gui/atpdraw

" Purpose:
ATP Control Center (ATPCC) is a user-shell for user-friendly handling of ATP Windows
versions, supporting programs ATPDraw, PCPlot and any other ATP related programs running
under Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT.
L Working with two different ATP versions at the same time possible
L File type sensitive execution of ATP, ATPDraw, PCPlot and other programs
( double-click on file names or execute using context menu
L Working with any editor preferred by the user is allowed
L Up to 10 external programs can be linked to ATPCC and executed from the user shell
L Project based handling of simulation data cases
L Event window displays previously executed commands
L Re-execution of the preceding commands from event window
ATPCC is at present only available for the members of the EEUG Association. It has been
developed by Deniz Celikag under contract of the EEUG Association
The following diagram shows the interaction of ATP Control Center with other programs.
4.3 PCPlot
" Purpose:
PCPLOT is a graphical output program for ATP versions running under Microsoft Windows
95/98/NT.
L Capable to process plot files (PL4) of C-like type generated by ATP versions Salford,
Watcom and GNU/Mingw32 and PL4 files of FORMATTED type generated by any other
ATP version.
L Maximum 6 variables in the same diagram
L Curve and background colors are fully adjustable
L Readout facility to obtain instantaneous values of plotted curves
L Zooming, redraw features
L Copy plot area to clipboard
L Save image as color or monochrome BMP (bitmap) file
L Curve identifiers for monochrome BMP format
L Integrated help function
PCPlot, version 1.0, can be ordered from European EMTP-ATP Users Group e.V. It will be also
available from the password-protected FTP site of the EEUG. PCPlot has been developed by
Deniz Celikag under contract with the EEUG Association.
4.4 PlotXY
" Purpose:
PlotXY is a WIN32 plotting program originally designed for use with ATP/EMTP, but now able
to work satisfactorily also with ASCII data files.
4.5 GTPPLOT
" Purpose:
GTPPLOT is a plotting program for ATP output, compiled with the GNU FORTRAN, and
makes use of the graphical package DISLIN. The program is available for DOS-djgpp extender,
Windows 32, and Linux.
L GTPPLOT can read widenn, formatted graphics files (FMTPL4 = 10Fnn.) both with nn
arbitrary, C-like binary files, including the new format obtained with NEWPL4=2 (called
PISA), and FORTRAN (DOS-djgpp, Mingw32, Linux, and SALFORD) unformatted files.
The program detects automatically the format of the file.
L GTPPLOT can process graphics files with up to 100000 points and up to 1000 variables,
sufficient for the usual application.
L The program can plot graphics with 1 to 20 curves. The curves can be distinguished by
color, linetype or symbols, or the combinations of them. For FS and HFS the plot can be
barcharts.
L The program cannot control the mouse. The user must use the keyboard for all the input
operations.
L The program can generate graphics files in six different formats: HP-GL (Hewlett-Packard
Graphic Language), CGM (Computer Graphics Metafile), WMF (Windows Meta File),
PCX, PostScript and GNUPLOT. Some options are limited with GNUPLOT format.
L The screen plot can be in various formats, in color or black and white, and the screen
resolutions supported are 640*480, 800*600, and 1024*768. The Mingw32 and Linux
version uses the screen resolution as defined by the operative system.
L Furthermore, the program calculates a lot of PQI from data, as FOURIER analysis, turbine
shaft loss of life estimation, data conversion to COMTRADE, Bode plots, and more.
L The program is easily installed copying all the files in the same directory, included in the
PATH definition.
DOS version:
The CWSDPMI.EXE program is the memory manager and must be in the path. The current
dimension not requires disk paging with 16 Mbytes of RAM or more. A good disk cache is
recommended.
GTPPLOT is frequently updated (near monthly), and each new version is announced in ATP-
EMTP mailing list.
" Purpose:
PFE is a powerful text editor running under MS-Windows 3.1x/95/98/NT to create/edit ATP
input data files and to view/print ATP output lists.
L The size of file it can handle is limited only by the total amount of virtual memory
available
L No arbitrary limit on the number of lines a file can contain
L It can edit multiple files, the number being limited only by the available system resources
L Line numbers can be shown in any edit window if required
L Right-click mouse menus give access to commonly required functions
L DOS commands and ATP programs can be run with the output captured in an edit window
L Commonly-used text or ATP input data formats can be inserted in a simple operation from
template libraries (most ATP input data formats are available as templates from EEUG)
L Keystrokes and menu commands can be recorded in replayable keyboard macros which can
be collected into libraries
L Files can be printed either in total, by line range, or selected text only
L Automatic configuration of edit options depending on file type
L Screen font PFE uses can be configured to view and edit wide format text files.
Version 1.01.000 released in February 1999. The development of PFE has been stopped.
The source of releases and up-to-date information about PFE is the PFE Home Page on the
World Wide Web, which you can find at http://www.lancs.ac.uk/people/cpaap/pfe/. PFE is also
included on the CD-ROM distributed by the EEUG to the members.
