How to use the Micca Speck

1. Plug in the power supply and HDMI cable into the back of the Micca Speck.
Then plug the other end of the HDMI cable into your playback device (TV or projector).
2. Insert either a USB thumb drive or SD card with your media into the Micca Speck.
3. Your media should be formatted correctly for the Micca Speck (see page 4 below).
4. Turn on your playback device. Use the Micca remote to turn on the Micca Speck.
A green light should illuminate on the front of the Micca Speck indicating that it is on.
5. If the menu for the Micca Speck does not come up on your playback device,
make sure the device is set for the HDMI input you connected to the Micca Speck.
If that does not work press the HDMI button on the Micca Speck remote.
6. Your display should now look like this:

7. Using the Micca Speck remote, select Movie > USB Device or Memory Card. Press OK on the remote.

8. Navigate to your file with the Micca Speck remote.


Make sure you choose the file without "._" before the file name as shown in the image below.
The green arrow is the correct file. and the red X is the incorrect file.
Select the file by pressing the OK button on the remote. Your video should begin playing.

9. To loop your file, press the REPEAT button on the remote until "Repeat One" is shown on the screen.
Your file will now loop until STOP is pressed on the remote.

How to save video for proper playback on
exhibition media players in the gallery
The following instructions guide you through the process of exporting a video file for playback on the exhibition media
players used at Herter Art Gallery. These instructions require you have a finished, high-quality version of your piece to
start with—preferably as an MP4 file.

1. Open Adobe Media Encoder (available to all students as part of Adobe Cloud software).
2. Find your finished movie file on your computer, then drag and drop it into the Queue pane of Media Encoder.

3. In the Queue window, directly under the file name click on the first blue link and select H.264 as the format.

4. For the second blue text link, click and select Match Source – High bitrate as the Preset.

5. Under the third blue text link, click and select a location to save the new file to and a name for the file.

6. When you're ready to export, click the green arrow button on the upper-right of the queue panel to start the
encoding.
