- Herbs, also known as botanicals, are one of humanity’s oldest health care tools
and the basis of many modern medicines. Ancient civilizations relied on herbs for
healing, as do contemporary cultures throughout the world. We know that in ancient
times the use of herbs was one of the reasons why people prefer not to seek
treatment. Using herbs is one of the examples of complementary and alternative
medicine practices. As I asked my grandmother, she stated that they believed herbs
could treat various types of illnesses. Oregano is the most used herb because it
contains chemicals that might help reduce cough. They use it by placing the oregano
on top of hot rice to get the leaf extract that they are going to drink. They also used
erbaka plant as a treatment for headaches and used it to maintain the blood flow
during menstruation by boiling it and drinking the extract.

- Massage therapy dates back many thousands of years. With such a long history
in societies and cultures around the world, it has developed into, and is often a
complementary form, of new medicine. Although massage therapy has its
conventional uses, it is more widely accepted alternative medicine in the modern
age. When people think of massage, the majority usually think of relaxation and
well-being, though the term itself encompasses a number of different meanings and
use of technique. In general, it circulates healing throughout the body as the
masseuse or therapist presses, rubs, and otherwise manipulates the muscles with
their hands and fingers. Other types of massage have also been known to use
forearms, elbows, and occasionally feet for applying more specific amounts of
pressure.

Massage therapy is used for a wide variety of reasons. These include stress
reduction, pain relief, rehabilitating sports injuries, relaxation, addressing depression
and anxiety, and aiding wellness in general. Although many theories have been
considered about how massage therapy affects the human body, it has been
suggested that massage provides stimulation to help stop pain signals. It has also
been said that massage can generate the release of specific chemicals in the body,
such as endorphins or serotonin, however tests are still being conducted for
additional information.
