1. GENERAL
1.1.Purpose
The scope of this Method Statement is to establish, detail and explains the plan and
methodologies involved during all operations activities in order to get a satisfactory results.
The contractor reserves his right to adapt his methods for Installation of Instruments,
Junction Boxes, Local Control Station, Pedestals & Support in accordance with the guide line
provided by project Specifications, Saudi Aramco Standards, IFC Drawings, relevant codes
and procedures with enumerate the safety requirements and work procedure
DE - Discipline Engineer E/I - will ensure that the works are performed safely as per
the latest approved drawings and specifications.
DF - Discipline Foreman E/I - will ensure that his crew has to follow the safe work
procedure and works are carried out as per the latest approved drawings.
Attend Safety Tool Box Talks with HSE Department and construction crews.
CO - Crane operator – (ARAMCO certified) shall be responsible for the safe as well as
efficient operations of the crane.
R1 - Rigger 1 – (ARAMCO certified) shall be responsible for the all safe lifting and
rigging throughout the critical lift process activities, he will ensure that his crew
will perform a safe work supporting the crane operator during the whole
activities.

QCI - Quality Control Inspector - will ensure that all the work is executed according to
the PQP and that the requirement of quality dossier is fulfilled. The RFI is
issued in advance as per the QCP. All previous activities related to this is
covered with RFI, inspected accepted and signed off by all parties. Latest
revision of the IFC drawings, Grounding and Lighting Protection layout and
copy of approved MOS are available at site.
Scaffold Supervisor (Aramco Certified) - will ensure that all the scaffolding activities
performed as per Aramco standard by his crew and he is also responsible to
release the safe working scaffold to the working team with proper tagging
system and record.
HSE Supervisor / Officer - will ensure that the works are performed safely as per the
latest Company requirements.
Construction Supervisor - will ensure that the works are performed as per the latest
approved method statement in a safe and efficient manner.

2. SCOPE OF WORK
2.1. Instrument Installation
4. Prior to installation the instrument shall have been bench checked. The instrument shall
be identified by "tag" number and checked to ensure it is color coded; signifying
calibration has been carried out and recorded.
5. Upon installation, the instrument shall be checked to ensure mounting is as per the
approved method and fixing is secured.
6. The instrument stand shall be grounded to the ground grid and the instrument
shall be bonded to the ground.
• The instrument elevation is as per the approved drawing and is above or below
the process tapping points as specified.
• The orientation is such that process connections can be made with the minimum
number of bends and shall not exceed more than 6 meter for flow meters used in
control loops.
• Where the installed instrument has a local indicator or dial, the indication can be
read from grade or platform.
8. Where specified, sunshades shall be inspected to ensure they are as per the
detailed drawing and securely fixed.
9. Upon completion of the installation, the assembly will be protected by
covering facials with cardboard and wrapping the assembly in polyethylene to
protect from damage and spillage
1. All approved documents and work permits relevant on the activities shall be
available on site.
2. Installation of Instruments in existing plant should not affect the existing
systems and ensure free access for maintenance and no obstruction to other
services.
3. Instruments shall be installed as per approved documents drawings and ensure
free access for maintenance and no obstruction to other services.
4. Instruments mounted directly on to the process piping or vessels shall not be
installed until all flushing and pressure testing is complete. Line mounted
instruments shall be located where line vibration is negligible.

5. Where instruments are to be flange mounted, the following shall be checked prior to
installation:
• Bolts, nuts and washers are of correct material, length and diameter.
• Where dual fixing is required, the two flanges are correctly spaced and their
Alignment is correct
6. Bolts shall be tightened in sequence ensuring the gasket remains central and the
assembly is securely fixed. Supports and Foundations
7. Where dual flanges are employed, particular attention shall be paid to ensure no
undue stress or misalignment of the instrument flanges.
8. Where instruments are installed on screwed connections, the assembly shall be
checked to ensure it is as per the detailed instrument hook-up drawings.
9. Particular attention shall be paid to ensure all threaded connections are properly
engaged and tightened.
2.2. Junction Boxes, Local Control Station Pedestal and Support Installation
1. All approved documents and work permits relevant on the activities shall be available
on site.
2. Junction boxes, Local Control Station and Pedestal shall be installed as per approved
IFC drawings and ensure free access for maintenance and no obstruction to other
services.
3. Junction boxes, Local Control Station and Pedestal support, shall be installed as per
Aramco Standard and approved IFC drawings. Required welding and drilling shall be
carried out where ever necessary.
4. Junction boxes, Local Control Station and Pedestal installed shall be compliance with
associated Aramco Standard, project specification and codes.
5. Any necessary field cuts or welding or any other damage to the galvanized finish shall
be repaired with an epoxy based zinc rich paint as per SAES-H- 101V.
6. All Junction boxes, Local Control Station and Pedestal shall be tagged in accordance
with the Aramco Standard, project specification and approved IFC drawings.

7. Prior to Junction boxes, Local Control Station and Pedestal installation, the support
frame, stand and/or bracket shall be inspected and checked against the detailed
drawing.
8. Particular attention shall be paid to the fixing points for correct sizing and orientation.
9. All rough edges shall be removed prior to the painting and painting shall be done in
accordance with the Project Specifications
10. The supports shall be located in accordance with Junction boxes, Local Control Station
and Pedestal layout drawing. The precise location shall be finalized in the field.
11. Particular attention shall be paid to the following:
The installation shall not obstruct access ways, exits or the process piping does not
pass over equipment.
Sufficient access shall be maintained to allow maintenance in a safe manner.
The installation shall be positioned to minimize deleterious effects from hot or cold
surfaces, condensate and spillage etc.
The elevation of the installed junction box shall be checked against drawing and
standard
All indicating instrument should be at visible height
To ensure that the name plate on the Junction boxes, Local Control Station
and Pedestal match with the location drawings.
Unions / equivalents shall be installed on conduit / cable entries to the
Junction boxes, Local Control Station and Pedestal for easy removal in future.
12. The installed support shall be inspected to ensure it is level, vertical and the whole
assembly is rigid.
13. Where supports are installed on pre-cast concrete foundations, the fixings shall be
checked to ensure that they are tight and secure.
14. Supports bolted to structural steel shall be checked to ensure all bolts etc. are
correctly installed and securely fixed.
15. All conduits and accessories shall be of the approved type.
16. All conduits installation with low point or water accumulation shall be have drain or
breather (where applicable).
17. All junction boxes shall be grounded to the main ground grid
18. All unused holes shall be plugged or capped with approved type plug.
19. All conduit threads shall be fully engaged to the conduit fittings or hubs when
terminating to junction boxes.
1. Prior to installation to site, the support frame, stand and/or bracket shall be inspected
and checked against the detailed drawing.

shall be as close as possible to the process tapping point.
2. All personnel shall wear the correct and appropriate and approved PPE at all times when
engaged at the job site location.
3. Perimeter of work area(s) will be safety taped or barricaded and appropriate signage
displayed, (e g: Authorized Person Only) other signage appropriate to the task being
undertaken shall also be displayed, Flashing lights shall be provided at night at trench
locations.

4. Aramco certified Work Permit Receivers shall be engaged for permit work requirements
and will be present at the job site location for the duration of activities.
5. Aramco certificated Crane/Fork Lift Operator and Riggers will be used, at all times for the
duration of the work activities.
6. All lifting tools shall be load tested and certificated prior to start any activities.
7. Original Permit to Work, Method Statement and Risk Assessment and/ or JSA shall be
displayed at worksite in visible locations.
8. Job Specific Tool Box Meetings shall be conducted before starting any activity.
9. Gas testing shall be done before starting the work and at interval recommended or
required by Saudi ARAMCO for the complete duration of associated work.
10. All electrical equipment, lifting tools and tackles, etc., shall be inspected and tagged the
monthly color code every month.
11. Crane shall be inspected and certified in accord with the ARAMCO standard requirements.
12. Trailer shall be inspected and certified in accord with the ARAMCO standard
requirements.
13. Boom truck shall be inspected and inspected in accord with the ARAMCO standard
requirements.
14. Fork Lift shall be inspected and certified in accord with the ARAMCO standard
requirements.
15. All Permits to work will be closed after the completion of the activities, or the end of each
shift unless otherwise extend by special consent of foreman. Work Permit will
automatically closed during any accident happen in the plant and a new permit will be
apply for the same activities when the area is cleared.
16. Closure of associated permits shall be ensured for works such as de-isolations, box-up of
confined spaces etc.,
17. Maintain the necessary standards of cleanliness and tidiness within the workplace, at all
times for the duration of the work activities.
18. MCCL Site Safety Officer shall be present at the job site at all times while workers are
performing, their work activities and associated responsibilities.

19. MCCL Safety Officers shall be assigned to monitor safety condition of the work area, and
are authorized to stop any activities if the conditions at the site changed to such an extent
that continuing of working would be determined to be unsafe.
20. Special protective equipment may be used for any operations involving
chemical Handling, tetraethyl. Lead, abrasive blasting. Painting, coating or other
hazardous toxic materials.
21. MSDS of the materials / Chemicals shall be available and discussed to workers
prior to the activity.
22. All hazardous materials shall be properly labeled.
23. Precautions to be taken in Handling and Storing of Chemicals. Use non-sparking
tools when handling this material. Avoid hot surfaces. Use in cool, well-
ventilated areas. Keep containers closed when not in use. Keep away from
excessive heat and open flames. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with the
skin.
24. To prevent skin and eye contact under the foreseeable conditions of use, wear
appropriate protective clothing and safety eyewear. When handlings, do not
eat, drink, or smoke. Wash thoroughly after handling. Avoid breathing fumes.
Handle in a well-ventilated work area.
A plentiful allocation of cooling water shall be provided in the cooling water cans.
Cooling water cans shall be placed in the easy accessible location to all.
Heat stress protection shall be inducted in the tool box meeting regularly
Heat index shall be displaced visible area to understand the requirement of precaution
measure as per Aramco standard.

QC inspector shall be ensure all Grounding and Lightning Protection conform to the
applicable Projects Standards and material receiving inspection has been conducted,
covered with RFI and accepted.
The Quality Inspector shall ensure the Grounding and Lightning Protection conform to the
Specifications and drawings.
All earthling-bonding jumpers are effectively grounded as per project specifications and
standards.
The QC inspector shall use the relevant SAIC checklist to record his inspection findings. Any
deficiencies noted shall be logged into the Logbook (QEIL System) and issued to
Construction and ensure the comments are rectified before issuing RFI.
