approach through problem solving.

The teacher will orient the class of the following :course description, the platforms of
the instruction in teaching, course requirements , policies, grading system and

consultation hours through (google meet). Afterwards, the teacher will start with a

Lesson Opener to introduce the concept uploaded in (google classroom). The
students must watch the video/powerpoint presentation.

LESSON OPENER
LEARNING The Circle of Mathematicians of 123 Elementary School solicits notebooks to be

total of 232 packs of notebooks. If each pack contains 12 notebooks , how many
(Presentation of the notebooks did the organization collect?
Essential Topic)
LET’S FOCUS
To visualize the problem , we can draw 232 packs with 12 notebooks each. But
drawing these will take us time. Instead , we represent them like below .

Based on our illustration , we can now visualize that there are 232 packs with 12 notebooks
each. Thus, we can simply put this into multiplication sentence as 232 x 12=N.
We can write the factors vertically to easily perform the operation as shown below .
232 Factors
X 12
ACTIVITY N Product
But how does this work?
ENHANCEMENT Let us first recall the terms involved in multiplication. Factors are the numbers which we
multiply . Product is the answer which we get in multiplication.

In multiplying a three-digit by a two –digit number, we follow the steps.

Step 1: Multiply the ones place of the multiplicand by the ones place of the multiplier .

Step 2: Multiply the tens place of the multiplicand by the ones place of the multiplier.

Therefore, the circle of Mathematicians donated 2 784 notebooks.

Another way to multiply multi-digit numbers is through the use of Lattice Method .There are
three steps to follow in multiplying numbers using Lattice Method.

Using the Lattice Method , we still got 2 784 as the answer.

Another method which we can use in multiplying multi-digit numbers is by applying the
Distributive Property of Multiplication over Addition (DPMA) which you have learned when
you were in the primary grades.

Our number sentence is 232 x12 =N

12 can be written as 10 +2 .
So, our new equation , is 232 x (10+2)=N

Working the equation , we get the results as follows.

LET’S DO THESE

Direction: Use the three methods in multiplying multi-step numbers.

453x 34=N

Let’s Create
Multiply 423 by 56 . Use other methods in multiplication other than what you have
learned in this lesson. You can search for other methods in the net. Share to the class
your new discovery.

Let’s Solve
Direction: Solve the following (2 pts.each)
A.Multiply using the distributive property of multiplication over addition .
1. 113 x 24=___________ 2. 245 x 36=________ 3. 561 x 42=_____________

B. Use the lattice Method in multiplying the pair of numbers .
