Intellectual ideas are often controversial because they challenge predominant beliefs, especially religious beliefs that people have held for a long time. This causes cognitive dissonance. People also have different perspectives and worldviews based on their knowledge and experiences. Intellectual ideas that contradict cultural beliefs or philosophical principles can be seen as threatening. Humans generally prefer certainty and are threatened by things that disrupt their worldviews or suggest they could be wrong.

Intellectual ideas are controversial because most people aren’t free thinkers. When an idea goes against

Most of intellectual ideas are controversial since people have different perspective in life because of
their differences in the knowledge they have and the experience they gain. It challenges the
philosophical principle or standard, science like evolution of things or its origin. Its contradiction to the
beliefs and culture they live in, made it controversial. The changes that intellectual ideas want to impose
can create controversy because our minds contradicts to each other. People have the attitude of
wanting certainty or assurance about anything so that, it can lead to arguments or in some ways, it is
just interesting which it catches their attention.

Most humans seek to make order out of chaos. They form a view of how the world is, and feel
threatened when something disrupts their worldview. Not only are they threatened by the novelty, but
often their own judgement and actions have been formulated on their view of what they thought as
good or bad. So they respond negatively to the imposition that they could be wrong.
