Lesson Plan 2

The document provides a lesson plan for teaching 7th and 8th grade English students how to properly cite sources and incorporate quotations and paraphrases into writing using APA style. The lesson plan defines key terms, models citing sources using examples from books and articles, and has students practice citing independently. The student teacher who implemented the lesson plan twice found it went well overall, though assessments were not completed during the lessons due to other factors. When assessments were later reviewed, the student teacher observed students demonstrated learning but also still had mistakes, which could be attributed to the gap in time between the lesson and assessment.

Evaluation of Field Experience Student’s Performance
I taught this lesson twice, and it went very well. Because of other factors, such as a fire drill or
recapping part because a student needed to use the restroom, I did not get to the assessment part
today. That will come on Wednesday. However, my lesson was about the right length for once.
The students answered questions and were fairly engaged. One thing I changed between the first
and seconds lessons was that I told the students to create the document first because I forgot it
the first time. My examples worked really well. They were a lot to write on the board, but I think
that that is normal for these kinds of lessons.
Now that I’ve done the assessments, I can see that the students did learn a lot. The assessments
that I looked at definitely had mistakes, but they had many correct things as well. Many of those
mistakes can definitely be accounted for by the gap between the lesson and the assessment.
