Problem 
Print the prescription when ​Dispensing medication in pharmacy 
 
Appetite  
Big appetite 
 
Solution  
The prescription can be from inpatient or outpatient.  
Prescriptions should be printed in pharmacies and contain information about the encounter 
and other information about the prescription and the medication included.  
 
The prescription can be from different types of patient and types of medicine, so the labels 
can change in some cases.  
The combination of cases are: In patent, outpatient (unique dose), intravenous.  
Here is the information that is necessary to print for each case.  

 
1) ALL THE CASES:

IV Labels 
 
There are different priorities in the fields needed in the label. The client express that the 
fields such as: 
 
● Diluent 
● Dose 
● Infusion rate 
● Concentration: this is calculated according to the concentration of the drug 
related to the diluent ie. if to a diluent of 1000 ml is added a drug of 100ml what 
is the concentration in 10 ml. 
● Prepared by 
● Checked by 
● LASA 
● Notes: they will add indications there 
  
Are important but can be added after the go-live, so for now they can be added 
manually, the information that t​ hey cannot go-live without​ are: 
 
● Date 
● Time 
● Patient name 
● MRN 
Unit 

Room: If applicable 

Bed: if applicable 

*​Storage info:ie. Room, temperature, protected from light, etc. 

User who reviewed 

Preparation date 

*​Expiration date: after preparation according to the diluent and drug 

*​Expiration hour: after preparation (24 hr format) 

 
*They have a list of all IV drugs mapped with the storage and time information. 
Payment (​ not relevant for pharmacy but required by MOH) 
Credit: Medication covered by the insurance company. 
Cash: does not have insurance, or the medication is not included in the insurance.
