A business or technical report presents information on a topic to a specific audience for a particular purpose. It follows a standard format including a title, introduction, findings or body, implications or conclusions, and recommendations. The introduction provides background on the issue and purpose of the report. The findings or body sections contain the main analysis and evidence. Implications or conclusions section explains the significance of the findings. Recommendations provide suggested actions based on the conclusions. Technical reports also include a summary, bibliography, and appendices for additional details or data.

REPORT
-a document that presents information in an
organized format for specific audience and purpose
A report is a concise piece of writing that uses facts
and evidence to look at issues, situations, events or
findings.
Writing Business Report

- Process of preparing a formal written document for a


business setting.
- Business report are always formal and objective and every
fact must be clear and backed up legitimate source.
5 types of Business Report
INFORMATIONAL REPORT- required when you want objective
information on something.
ANALYTICAL REPORT- required when a company is trying to make
an important decision.
RESEARCH REPORT- required when considering trying something
new ( like offering a new product)
PROGRESS REPORT- required to show how things are going at the
moment.
EXPLANATORY REPORT- required when you want to explain a topic
or situation so that everyone can understand it.

TITLE

-Short and Precise


-It should also include the date of completion/submission of
the report, the author/s, and their
association/organisation.
INTRODUCTION

FINDINGS

- The longest section


- Written after a period of some sort of investigation or
research
- Includes figures compare and contrast
IMPLICATION
- Portray arguments
- Justification and reasoning of your choice

CONCLUSIONS
- Summarize and inform the decision made
- Not long
- Demonstrate the purpose of the report is achieved.
RECOMMENDATIONS

- Give suggestions of what should be done as follow-


up actions from the conclusions
- Logical and relevant
WRITING TECHNICAL REPORT

- Also called a scientific report


- A document that describes the progress, process or
results of scientific or technical research
Types of Technical Report
Feasibility Report- Primary and most important thing in
development of a project.
Example: Operational, market and financial.
Background Report- intended to provide background details on a
technical reports
-two essential infrastructure of the background
report are definition and classification.
Business Plan- these are proposals for starting a new business a formal
statement of the business goals and the plan for achieving them.
Policies and Procedures for organizations- design to influence and
determine all major decision and actions and all activities take place
within the boundaries set by them.
Recommendation Report- analyze a problem, determine the best
solution and recommend the best solution.
- Make recommendation based on data
Research Report- consisting of data, conclusion, methodology and
background on the problem.

TITLE PAGE
The title page comes first in a technical report. It contains the
title, the date, institution details, and the like. Keep in mind, that
the content of the title page is not added up to the word count of a
report.
Table of contents
Help your reader quickly and easily find what they are looking for
by using informative headings and careful numbering of your
sections and sub-sections.
INTRODUCTION

In this part, highlight the main goals of your paper clearly to help
your readers understand the purpose you’re writing for. You can
also describe the flow of your report to let your readers know
what they should expect.
SUMMARY
A technical report summary (or abstract) should include a
brief overview of your investigation, outcomes and
recommendations. It must include all the key information
your reader needs to make a decision, without them having
to read your full report. It usually includes the results
and conclusions.
BODY
This is the main part of your report because it
carries your content. Introduce the information
using small subheadings to make the body
section more presentable and clear, so readers
will be guided with these subheadings.You can
also use bulleted or numbered lists to point main
ideas in order to help your readers understand
what are you talking about.
CONCLUSION
A conclusion implies a summary of the main points that
you report in the body, what decision you came. Use
words to show that you are concluding your work to
prepare readers that you’re about to finish.

Bibliography
In a bibliography, list the sources you use for writing the
report and research.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Here you should list all the people who took part in writing
this tech report.

Appendices
If you have data that is too detailed or lengthy to include in the
report itself, include it in the appendix. Your reader can then
choose to refer to it if they are interested. Label your appendix
with a number or a letter, a title, and refer to it the text,
