Instructions: Answer the questions based on your own understanding. Each of these
questions should only be answered in 4 to 6 sentences. The answers will
be evaluated based on the Content – 10 points, Organization – 5 points,
which will give a total of 60 points.

1. How do you define Humanities?

Humanities is the study of the human world, the culture, way of thinking,
behavior, perspective or the human society in general. For me, it is basically
about understanding the roles of humans and its capabilities. It is actually a very
broad topic that it touches different aspects like history, language, values, arts,
philosophy and many more. The study of humanities is essential for the reason
that it helps us understand more effectively how we differ from each other
specially to those who we do not share the same culture and language. It will
also provide us a better knowledge about our history.

2. Why is there a need to study humanities especifically “Arts Appreciation?”

Studying humanities is important for the reason that it deepens our


understanding about humans as we are, about cultural diversity and historical
values. The field Arts Appreciation from humanities provides many influence in
our way of thinking. In this regard,I believe that one’s personality can somehow
be define by how one see art. What I mean about this is that being able to
appreciate and express yourself and your thoughts about arts can open up your
mind. On the other hand by hearing the different perspectives from other people
too can also help you broaden your mind and gain knowledge about how
beautiful art is that is it not just limited to drawings and paintings but as well as to
your way of thinking.

3. With the presence of Covid-19, what contributions can you possibly give as a
humanities student? Cite examples.

In the situation we have right now, as a humanities student I believe the best
thing I can do is first stay at home and follow safety protocols. Aside from that I
would like to encourage everyone to do the same. Then I will use my platforms
such as social media to spreed good news and vibes by encouraging everyone
that even if life is tough right now it is still beautiful. I want them to appreciate
everything they have and do things they love using the any resources they have
and just think broader.
4. Differentiate humanities, sciences, and social sciences?

Humanities, science and social sciences are all focusing in the study of human
behavior and evolution in terms of both social and cultural contexts. But despite
of that they use different approach in achieving there goals. Humanities is more
like a subjective study that allows analytical and critical approach. Whereas
social sciences uses scientific and evidence-based approach where they usually
conduct studies and research to prove their claim and thats the time science go
into the picture. Science studies the natural world and how species differ and act
and with that they do a lot of research and studies to discover.
