Philippine Education System in 2018: Are We Moving Forward?
It says in article that, our strong knowledge in the English language could be a global
tool in personal economic growth, particularly if you’d consider the business process
outsourcing industry in the global landscape. Despite this, Filipinos are still very dependent
on attaining college degrees in terms of climbing the professional ladder, as a college diploma
is still a very basic requirement or qualification in landing on financially fulfilling jobs.
Luckily though, a lot of advancements have happened in the modern Philippine education
system that is designed to empower Filipinos personally and professionally. One of the most
notable milestones in the Philippine education is that the government actively seeks to
expand access and participation in higher education and, even more importantly, tries to
improve the quality of education.
As a Filipino, it’s been marked in us that education is the key for us to succeed. We
need to finish studying and earn a degree for us to have a job and become professionals. For
this reason, I know that attaining higher education will surely help not just ourselves but as
well and most importantly the progress and expansion of our country, the Philippines. Base
on my experience before as a senior high school student, the quality of education that we
have is still in the process of enhancements and adjustments since K-12 curriculum is being
implemented. That’s why expansion and access to higher education is a must to empower and
strengthen the knowledge of the Filipinos and become globally competitive in all fields of
education.
Earning a degree is what I always wanted, that’s why I am doing my best in my
studies. I believe that having that diploma is not enough, the experience the skills, the
learnings, knowledge and especially the attitude is what it takes to make a difference and see
the change that we all want. The adjustments that the teachers and the students had with the
education system we have shown the willingness of each and every one to learn and attain
education in all possible ways. Through this we are even more eager to achieve our goals and
set a standard to reach higher education. With this we can possibly improve the quality of
education into more effective, efficient and competitive.
As a future educator, it is very important for me to set myself as a good example to
the next generation. To study well is the best that I can do to attain the knowledge needed, to
keep and continue learning not only intellectually but as well as the behavioral and emotional
aspects in life. How I build myself into a better version, how I inculcate in my mind to have a
vision of change and make a difference is also the way I am going to teach my students to
become one in the future. As what the common saying says “Be the change you want to see
in this world”. With that and through we as citizens of the Philippines must help each other to
improve the quality of education and make our country fiercely globally competitive.
