Contemporary Art: Quarter 3 Week
Activity 1:
Direction: Read the question carefully and write your answer in a 1⁄2 piece of paper.
1. If you are asked to create your own masterpiece, what would it be? Why?

If I were to create my own masterpiece, it would be an art painting composition that

reflects the diversified culture and traditions in my region or country. Perhaps, a painting that
depicts the festivals celebrated in my region, or a painting that portrays the way of living in
my region or country. I chose to plan this kind of piece since I want to exhibit artwork that
would communicate and would create an impact on my audiences so they would understand
and be informed about the unique culture in my region.

2. What is the importance of your masterpiece to your region?

My masterpiece could be a way of representing the traditions and culture of my

region. It could also be a way to further promote the culture, custom, lifestyle and heritage of
my region, so that more people would be well-informed and interested to visit.

Activity 2:
Direction: Write your insights of the lesson...
MIND SET MOMENT....
The best thing I learned today is how to interpret artworks and identify elements present
in works of art. In interpreting art, it is important to gather basic information about the work e.g.,
title of the work, the artist, date of creation, subject matter, present elements, and technique and
medium used. It is through these data gathering that we can basically analyze, understand, and
appreciate the work of art. I also became aware of the different principles of design that
constitutes the structure of the artworks and how it affects the meaning of the piece e.g., unity
and variety, balance, emphasis and subordination, scale and proportion, rhythm, etc.
Activity 3:
Directions: Take pictures of artist masterpieces in different art forms in your community or
province. Organize the collected pictures in a portfolio. Write a short literature of the artist,
medium used in the artwork, techniques, and styles with at least 10 pictures in a portfolio. Be
creative in the presentation.
