Have a review on Area of Rectangle.
What is the area of each of the rectangles below?
3. Motivation
Guess the Word
B. Development C. Presentation
Class, today, we are going to study solving the area of a triangle.
Area is the number of square units in a plane figure.
Take a look at these objects (bond paper, colored paper, and cartolina)
What plane figure do they represent?
D. Discussion
Using bond paper (paper folding)
Fold the typewriting into four equal parts (lengthwise), and then
unfold it.
Fold it crosswise into 6 equal parts, and then unfold.
What is formed? (grid/squares)
How many grids/squares are formed?
What did you do to find the number of square units of this rectangle
without counting them all?
Let’s cut the bond paper this way.
After cutting the bond paper into halves, what plane figure is
formed?
If the bond paper has 18 grids before it was cut, how many grids
does each half has?
What does the number of squares/grids represent?
How many squares/grids do you think does each triangle contain?
How did you say so?
Therefore, what to do to find the area of a triangle?
Using cartolina.
