variables: gender, marital status, credit rating (low, medium, high), annual income, and age.
Label each variable as qualitative or quantitative, discrete or continuous, and nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio

Question No. 2
a. What is the difference in application between a bar chart and a pie chart?
b. The manager of the 212Mart Bengkulu, gathered the following information on the number of times a customer visits the
store during a month. The responses of 15 customers were: 5 3 2 1 4 4 5 6 4 2 6 6 7 7 1
- How many classes would you recommend?
- What class interval would you suggest?
- What lower limit would you recommend for the first class?
- Organize the number of time visits into a frequency distribution.
- Determine the relative frequency distribution.
- Draw a histogram

Question No. 3
a. The Airy Syariah Hotel collects customer satisfaction data daily. Yesterday the hotel was 99% occupied and the manager
wanted to quickly assess customer satisfaction. She randomly selected ten scores. 100 points is the maximum score. The
ten scores were

What is the mean, median, mode, variance, and standard deviation?

b. The mean monthly income of a group of college students is Rp.1,750,000; the standard deviation is Rp250,000.
According to Chebyshev's theorem, at least what percent of the incomes will lie between Rp1.400,000 and 1.950,000?
c. Bengkulu University recently surveyed a sample of students to determine how far they lived from campus. The results
are shown below.

Compute the mean and standard deviation distance

Question No. 4
a. A telemarketing firm is monitoring the performance of its employees based on the number of sales per hour. One
employee had the following sales for the last 20 hours.

- Draw a dot plot for the data.

- What are the first quartile, the median, the third quartile, and the interquartile range for the distribution of number of
sales per hour?
b. The research director of a large oil company studied the buying habits of consumers with respect to the amount of
gasoline purchased at full-service pumps. The arithmetic mean amount is 11.5 gallons and the median amount is 11.95
gallons. The standard deviation of the sample is 4.5 gallons. What is the Pearson's coefficient of skewness?

Question No. 5
a. The arrival of customers at a service desk follows a Poisson distribution. If they arrive at a rate of two every five minutes,
what is the probability that no customers arrive in a five-minute period?
b. There are eight flights from Minneapolis to St. Cloud each day. The probability that any one flight is late is 0.10. Using

1. a. A population is a collection of all possible individuals, objects, or measurements of interest. A

sample is a portion, or part, of the population of interest.
b. A variable has one of four different levels of measurement: Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, or
Ratio. (Interval and Ratio levels of measurement are sometimes called Continuous or Scale).
c. Labeling each variable as qualitative or quantitative, discrete or continuous, and nominal, ordinal,
interval, or ratio :
- Gender : Qualitative, Discrete, Nominal
- Marital Status : Qualitative, Discrete, Nominal
- Credit Rating : Qualitative, Discrete, Ordinal
- Annual Income : Quantitative, Continuous, Ratio
- Age : Quantitative, Continuous, Ratio

2. a. Pie charts show how much each category represents as a proportion of the whole, by using a
circular format with different-sized “slices” for different percentages of the whole. Bar graphs use a
series of rectangular bars to show absolute values or proportions for each of the categories.
b. How many classes would I recommend
