continuous variables, some characteristics of density function and distributions, Function of
one random variable and expectation, Mean variance, moments about origin and moments
about mean and moment generating function
2. Joint probability distribution: Joint distribution for two random variables, Marginal Distribution,
Conditional distributions, Conditional Expectation, Independence of Random variables, Covariance
and correlation.
3. The Distribution function of Two Dimensional Random variables, Functions of Two
random variables, Linear combination, Moment Generating Function and Linear
Combination.
4. Some Important Discrete Probability Distribution , Derivation of Binomial, Poisson, Negative
Binomial, Geometric, Uniform and Multinomial distribution , Their properties and
Derivation of their m.g.f
5. Some important Continuous Probability Distributions: Uniform distribution, Exponential
Distribution, Gamma Distribution, Normal Distribution, Standard Normal Distribution,
Reproductive property of Normal Distribution, Properties of Normal Distribution.
6. 1st Hourly Examination
7. Central Limit Theorem, Normal approximate to Binomial Distribution (Derivation), Bivariate Normal
Distribution, Application.
8. Drawing of Random samples from Uniform Distribution, Exponential and Normal Populations.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

1. Attendance will be taken during the first five minutes, late comers will not be allowed in
the class.
2. More than two consecutive absences should be supported by a written explanation with
suitable proof.
3. Quizzes, mid terms and final exam. must not be missed.
4. No makeup quiz, midterm or final examination will be given for any reason.
5. Students are expected to be attentive, participative and interactive in the class..
6. Instructor has the right to take any suitable action against a student for not maintaining
discipline and congenial learning environment in the class.
7. Statistics Practical Journal will be maintained and students must have pencil, rubber,
scale and scientific calculator on practical day.
