REDOX RUST CONVERTER


DESCRIPTION
Redox Rust Converter is a complex mixture of Vinyl Acrylic Copolymer that converts rust to a highly stable iron oxide
magnetite. When it is applied, the conversion of the rusted surface from reddish-brown to bluish-black can be seen within
minutes. A thermoplastic seal is formed which (a) converts the rust to a stable form, (b) protects the metal from further
rusting, and (c) forms a weather-proof, heat and moisture resistant coating which helps to protect iron and steel from re-
rusting when It is top coated with conventional finishes.

Redox Rust Converter is self-priming but for a long-term protection, it is advisable to overcoat it with a suitable water or
solvent-based top coat.

APPLICATIONS
It can be used in every industry:
(a) Marine - ballast tanks, hatch covers, hold sides, tank tops, hold access ladders
(b) Shipyards - areas inaccessible to equipment to grit blast or hydro blast, places too dim to carry out painting works
effectively, jobs that need relatively shorter time to complete compared to anti-rust painting.
(c) Manufacturing - heavily corroded or pitted surface that makes it difficult to paint.

DIRECTIONS
Before treatment, remove the loosened rust. If the surface is oily, degrease with Redox Heavy Duty Cleaner.
Wash thoroughly with fresh water to remove salt residue. Dry the surface with pumped forced air.
Shake Redox Rust Converter well before use. Application can be done by airless spray, brush, roller or dipping.
Continue to use pumped forced air to dry the surface. For better protection especially in the ballast tanks, it is recommended
to apply several coatings.

Redox Rust Converter is an effective paint primer. Depending on the rust density, one or more coat of Redox Rust
Converter can be used. No other treatment is needed. It does not damage well-adhered paints.

5. Dry film thickness: Airless spray – 60 microns.
Brush - 40 microns
6. Possible re-coating: 24 hours minimum
7. To achieve best results, it is better to be used
with a top coat.
8. Redox Rust Converter is not approved by the
F.D.A. for direct or indirect food contact.
However, if it is top-coated with F.D.A. approved
materials in such a way that extraction or food
contact does not occur, the final surface may be
acceptable under the F.D.A. regulations.

For your information, Redox Rust Converter may be another solution for your rusted
areas in your vessels, for example in the ballast tanks.
Redox Rust Converter does not need much surface preparations.
It is fast and convenient.

Nowadays, vessels have very tight schedules, very little time spare for long dry-docking.
Sometimes blasting and painting jobs cannot be done in a short period at the same time
the metals are filled with rusts and corrosions.
Anyway blasting is expensive especially in confined areas. To simply leave the rusts to
spread itself is not a good idea. Perhaps for such a situation, you can consider our
Redox Rust Converter, at least it can stop the rust from spreading further till your vessel
go for dry-docking at a later stage.
