Introduction
Professional development defines as the learning which helps in attaining and maintaining
professional credentials which involve academic degrees to the formal coursework, attend
conferences, and informal learning opportunities which are situated in practice. It has been
described as collaborative and intensive are combined with the evaluation stage. In this
project, the professional development and practices have discussed a person that are learning
new things and helps in analyzing the different learning activities which are experienced by
him during the employment (Arishina et al. 2021). My course is Professional development
and practices which assist me in improving my abilities and skills. Along with this, it helps in
enhancing my knowledge in various areas of the subject. While doing this, I have also
enjoyed new learning and increase my skills and evaluate different areas where I can
improve.

After the finishing of graduation from BPP, I had to join ABC Company as a part-time
worker to learn various new things and determine what type of career option is best
appropriate according to my skills and how I can accomplish such goals in less time. It is a
construction organization where I have to perform work and solve the clients’ issues in a
better manner. Also, my work is to coordinate and manage the work with my team members
to accomplish the potential objectives (Ashar et al. 2021). I have to do effective
communication and interaction with my team members for the work which helps me in
gaining high development. For this, I have to choose my abilities and knowledge which can
assist me in performs all the responsibilities and complete entire tasks in a better manner. I
have to interact with the senior managers that provide instructions to me regarding how to
begin the project planning and gather required resources which are mainly used during the
development of the project. My role is to perform best practices that help me in finishing all
the tasks in a given time with the assistance of senior leaders and other members of an
organization.

Background of the study
The main aim of the study is to discuss the student learning and how a student gets
knowledge while doing working in the company. The report also discusses the critical
learning events and actions which a person has taken for analysing its strengths and weakness
at the time of employed in an organization. Also, the assignment describes the curriculum
vitae and personal development plan of the student which help in identifying its capabilities
and skills in better manner. I was working in the ABC Company as the part time worker and
as the Project Assistant and my role to handle and manage the team members during the
development of project. In a company, I have roles and duties which are given by my senior
manager and I have performed a great role in achieving organizational goals. For this, I was
required to consult with my senior members and staff of BPP regarding how can I make
improvements in my career and develop high growth and success level. I have examined that
understanding of new equipment and methods has helped me in faced major issues and
challenges and also I have no idea how to use the latest technology and how it would perform
the best work effectively. During this situation, I felt very stressed and frustrated but I need to
learn how the technologies are work and this help in understanding their functioning and
operations properly. Currently, I have to join a job where I would make improvements in my
existing skills and knowledge and attain high growth in the future time

“Critical Learning Events” within the Professional Development Report

Critical Learning Events in the company


Critical learning events are such learning situations where the learner has gained experience
in a personal, effective, and exceptional way. These experiences are the critical character of
an incident which is explained by learners themselves. During my employment in a
construction firm, I have to attain critical learning activities where I have been accountable
for appointing experienced employees and team members that are supportable for the project
work in a proper manner (Barnes and Butler, 2020). The project manager also provides me a
whole description and other information of the project for effectively controlling the project
status and also determines the responsibility and performance of each employee properly. But
it has been analyzed that I have failed to check the status and completed work of the project
due to a lack of guidance and support from my team members which created major difficulty
for me. In this condition, I have forgotten to check the details and other important

information which are useful for the completion of the project in a better way. It had also
created a negative image of the company in front of clients and this may impact
organizational services (Barrena-Martínez et al. 2017). By this, the client has cancelled the
contract and due to this my senior managers are very disappointed with my performance and
they suggest I not perform multiple tasks at a time. Through this event, I have learned that I
have to finish one work at the initial level and after that move to the second task which helps
me to complete all the works within time and in a proper manner.

Experience and learning

Throughout my work experience, I was learned different things and there are various sides of
the project which help in understanding what is going on and the progress status of the
project. The common process of how the project is planned completed and formulated. I have
learned certain lessons during the project development, there are various forms of work an
engineer needs to perform and it helps in provided me great success and growth (Bell et al.
2021). During the first week of acquiring tender, I was inundated by performing required
work and roles which were positioned on me and with the assistance of the senior manager.
By examining and analyzing their tasks, I have learned that communication is an essential
factor that is required in an organization and manage team members properly. Through this, I
had to get new knowledge and information regarding how to accomplish desired goals and
objectives of the firm (Bologna et al. 2020).

According to my experience, I have learned that working on tenders was very satisfying for
me and it was the most enjoyable moment for me as for managing the project o need to use
various equipment and methods. I have also realized that the real practice of technology is not
the same that was provided in college for practice. It is important for me is to focus on how
the technology was performed and help me in properly handling complex activities and
functions (Bossio and Sacco, 2017). By gaining the experience and analysis, the other
valuable lesson that I have learned is how to involve and participate in the project activities,
and with the assistance of this, I have performed better work for attaining high growth. It is
also necessary for me is to concentrate on increasing my skills, knowledge, and attitude that
could assist in improving my future targets and objectives effectively (Ciucci et al. 2018).

Critical evaluation of abilities and skills


I have analyzed that the workplace was different through which I have performed great work
in achieving potential goals. Various individuals perform tasks for managing an effective

project that includes managers, leaders, supervisors, mechanical engineers, team members,
and employees (Collins and Arthur, 2017). These people have certain strengths and abilities
to work together and manage their work with collaboration so that the project is completed in
a given time. I have examined that senior managers are present their work in an effective way
in front of their clients. It also assists in properly maintaining the company tasks as the team
members develop a better environment where all the employees were performing their work.
During the project, I would develop some common documents which a company needs to
update such as forms or lists, and ensure that everything should be associated with the
database which is necessary to be updated (Costelloe, 2021). This supported me in enhancing
learning about the company as the information of business, number of employees, and history
(Appendix 1).

Issues and challenges


I have also faced various issues and challenges while doing a part-time job in the company
where I have to complete all the tasks that are given to me by a senior manager. It would
create complexities for me to finish entire tasks in the described period as I was a new
employee and I do not know what is the role and style of company to deliver services to their
clients and how to satisfy their needs and requirements (Fargen et al. 2020). I have examined
that some of the senior leaders were conducted training and development sessions for the new
workers so that they can learn how they should perform their work without making any errors
and mistakes. This would make both of the employee and senior members work as they do
not majorly require explaining each task to the new workers and they also learn new things
and develop their knowledge effectively (Francis et al. 2021). In an organization, I have
communicated with my senior leaders regarding how to perform my work in a given time.

I have examined my strength and weakness while performing work within a company. I can
interact with my team members and collaborate with them. Through this, I have understood
how to handle situations that develop a negative impact on project working and development.
Beginning of the project, I have to perform my tasks where I had to manage all the required
supplies and resources from suppliers and communicate with team members regarding the
delivery of materials (Gates et al. 2021). It is necessary for me is to evaluate how the project
manager uses such resources while developing the project. I have learned how to handle the
conflicts and issues which occur during the formulation of the project. I have effective
interaction abilities which can help me in managing the team members’ coordination and
guide them regarding how to complete the work in a better way. As a project assistant, I have

to focus on monitor and control all the workers' or labours work and instruct them how to
reach with desired goals (Gunjawate et al. 2021). I have a lack of knowledge in the context of
using the latest technology and tools which are used in developing the project in less time. It
could create difficulty for me and I was not capable to regulate it for smoothly operating and
regulating the project work of an organization.

My area of development is to make improvements in technical abilities and learn how


advanced technologies were performed to achieving project goals and targets. For
formulating my future career range, it is necessary for me is to learn new things which help
me in growing and enhancing my knowledge for doing work in a company (Guraya et al.
2021). If I require and want to change my job in another organization, then I need to learn
how to operate the latest technology for the development of my future and career. It will
assist in enhancing my knowledge and abilities to employ in a different area and eliminating
conflicts situations as well. Besides this, it helps in increasing my growth and success level
by declining the problem which arises in the path of career development.

Gibbs Reflective model 1998


Graham Gibbs invented the Gibbs model in the year of 1998. The Gibbs model gives the
learning structure of a human being. It tells how a human learn from the different experience
that it gets from working and from the experience with time. The learning structure is such
that it calculates every experience that leads to the growth of the person and also every
challenge in the experience that helps the person to grow (Laestadius et al. 2017). The Gibbs
model is the evaluation of the learning experience that a person gets by working in an
organization. The stages at which the learning happens are decided into six stages. Each one
of these stages has its learning curve which helps the person to learn from the experience.
These six stages help to evaluate the experience the human gets from working in the
organization. For example, a person which is a student who wants to do a parts time job in an
organization while studying wants to do the job to get the work experience that will help him
in the future jobs (Lamont, 2021). The experience of the student is measured by the Gibbs
method based on experience and the challenges the student has faced in the time of his part-
time job. Taking consideration of the Gibbs method evaluates the experience of the student
by working part-time in the organization. The Gibbs reflective cycle is divided into six stages
which are explained in detail down below:

 Description of the experience: For instance, in an ABC company an employee is


working as a project assistant. The job of the project assistant is to coordinate and
collaborate with the staff of the organization which increases the efficiency of the
work that is done by the organization. If a person is from the mechanical engineer’s
branch and have a fit and athletic body he can get a job in construction working easily
because he met the criterion job easily (Lejeune et al. 2021). By working at the
construction site person will get many experiences such as how real construction
works and how the planning of the construction takes place, this will be an essential
experience for a person who came out as a fresh college graduate without a practical
experience on the field. It will help the person to grow their career and will help the
person with future jobs of higher designation.
 Feelings and thoughts about the experience: it is important for a student that is
studying in the university to get real-life job experience as soon as possible. At the
university, the student only learns about the situation of real-life problems from the
teacher’s perspective (Long et al. 2021). But in real life it is not always the same,

real-life can be unpredictable, in real life certain problems can occur which a person
who is experienced in that kind of work can solve. A student has a young mind and a
young mind is filled will new and creative ideas but in the university, the student
cannot freely explore their ideas, but in the real job they can and can gain a much-
needed experience from it. Working in a real-world scenario gives the person a
chance to learn how to tackle real-life problems because these kinds of problems do
not arise in the university.
 Evaluation of the experience: in an organization if the person who is a student
works. The person will get some work from the organization which the person has to
complete. By completing these works the person can get the precious experience of
real life. By working in an organization the person will face real-life problems which
will take something from the persons' mind to solve, If the person could not solve the
problem then also it will count as experience because the person has faced difficulty
and learn the things which caused him to fail to solve the problem (Mikołajczyk,
2021). Whether the experience is good or bad the experience counts. Bad experience
teaches a human much more than a good experience and it is way more valuable than
a good experience. The important thing for a person who has just completed his/her
studies and facing a real-world job for the first time is to try new and innovative
things to solve actual-world problems. There are many people at the organization that
will teach the person who is new at the job if he/she makes mistakes and try their best
to correct them. For a young person, the most important thing is to take the experience
of the new things that are offered to them by the organization.
 Analysis to make sense of the situation: for instance, a student is working as a
project assistant in an organization. As project assistance, he has to make the certain
decision for the betterment of the staff. In certain situations, a rookie may face certain
dilemmas of important decisions (Murray et al. 2020). At this time the person should
keep a cool head and try to analyze the situation and try to decide that suits the
situation the most.
 Conclusion about learning: from the things that are discussed in the above section it
appears that real-life work experience is very important for a student and it has its
significance in the career of the person (Nechaeva, 2021). Real-life work can give
good or bad experiences but it always helps the person to grow and become more
experienced in the work that he/she is doing.

 Action plan: If I experience this kind of situation in my life, I will make sure to keep
a cool head and takes important decisions by observing and analyzing the situation.

As per the above-discussed events, I have analyzed that such events had supported me in
gaining working experience and analyze what mistakes I do not repeat for a bright future. I
have learned that I need to perform and conduct only one tasks at the same time otherwise
this would create confusion and not be done properly. For this, I also require to concentrate
on my skills and knowledge and manage one work so that this would help me in efficiently
finishing a task (Nelimarkka et al. 2021). Along with this, the work helped me in increasing
my knowledge and develops my carer growth. But if I want to perform more than one task so
I need to give priority to such important work and deliver it at first to the client or manager.
For instance, if an individual performs more tasks so this will become complex and recognize
risks that create a negative impact on the project. There are some difficulties that I had to face
when I have to do multitasking because this will decline my performance range and
concentrate on things at the same time (Nguyen, 2021).

Development of effective skills


It is important for me is to develop my communication abilities which help me to interact
with team members and coordinate with them. I have also assigned required work among
members and understand their skills as per this I have allocated the task. Besides this, my
project manager suggested I evaluate and collect project members’ thoughts, opinions, and
responses regarding the project and if any idea is best suitable for the project then it can be
applied (Sancar et al. 2021). With the help of examining the critical learning event, my ability
has to formulate and I have to gain experience in a construction firm and understand how to
perform work in achieving potential goals. The event helped me in enhancing my
performance range which is determined as my power in regards to a company (Watson et al.
2018). This will also assist me in formulating my career goals if I would like to alter my job
and join another one where I got a certain position that will enhance my abilities and
knowledge effectively.

Roles and Responsibilities in an organisation
In ABC, I have been employed as a part-time employee in the position of project assistant
and the role assists me in learning new things which helps me in further career development
and gives me high opportunities to achieve high success. Throughout the journey, I have
attained the support of my senior members and the project manager lead the project tasks and
provide suggestions for me for improving my working style (Arishina et al. 2021). This had
helped me in enhancing my knowledge and evaluating how to behave in the business world
and how to perform effective actions in a company. Career planning is determined as self-
evaluation and planning that is conducted by me is to choose a strong career direction. It is
the process that helps in evaluating and set career goals, discovering accurate career options,
and revising the abilities (Ashar et al. 2021) (Appendix 2).

I have examined that career planning provides me an accurate path and makes it clear where I
see myself in the future period. For this, I need to be aware of my strength and weaknesses,
and skills which are essential to achieving future goals effectively. When the carer planning
is strong so that this could help me in maintaining the direction, set the job abilities and
knowledge which are necessary for the job, and safe the future dream which gives high
growth (Barrena-Martínez et al. 2017). It will help me in improving the loyalty of employees.
As a worker, I have concentrated on my growth and development which support in increasing
career development. I have learned that I have to perform tasks full of dedication which
motivates other members and senior managers to provide examples regarding how to work
with passion and dedication.

Conclusions and Personal Assessments

According to the described professional development report, it has been concluded that I have
performed work in ABC Company at the position of Project Assistant. My work was to
coordinate and monitor team members which are performed tasks for finishing the project
operations in discussed time. In this, knowledge or skills and behaviours (KSBs) have been
determined as part of apprenticeships. It has presented the core attributes and attitudes of an
individual that should have competed in the job role. KSB must achieve by learner, evidence,
and assessed in conducting their subject courses. The information that could improve by me
for future career development and growth is that it is necessary to understand customers'
requirements and needs as per this I should provide advice they increased reputation and
formulation.

In addition to this, I will gather and assemble information regarding the organization’s role
and operations which assist in attracting clients to the firm and provide certain advantages of
developing an agreement with a company in the future time. I have the main skill to interact
with clients who help me convince them to buy the company's services and also satisfy their
needs and wants. Behaviour is another aspect which is used by me in further time as I require
conducting great behaviour with my customers and evaluating their problems which arises.
For impressed the manager, I have work on my voice and softly communicate with clients so
they are attracted and concerned to make a contract with the company.

All the three pieces of knowledge or skills and behaviours (KSBs) assistance in future time as
it helps in improving career growth and increasing the opportunities to get higher position in
a large company. It is also necessary for me is to complete the whole work within time and
also motivate my team members to perform great work in achieving company goals and
targets.

Understand to remain employable in an industry


To remain employable in the construction industry, I require concentrating on improving and
growing my skills and abilities associated with the organization and perform work on a
specific project which helps in increasing my knowledge. As a project assistant, I have
controlled and operated the daily activities of employees and make sure that the project is
finished within discussed budget and timeline. I have some roles and duties to attain effective

results which increasing the company goodwill in the large market place. I have to develop a
report of the project's current status and progress and this report needs to be submitted to the
stakeholders and customers, after that they can check the regular working performance of the
company and its employees. For surviving in the sector, I have the great flexibility to adopt
some changes which are important for the further success of an organization. It is important
for me is to coordinate with team members and arrange the entire project in a better manner.
Along with this, I have to perform better functions and operations for accomplishing desired
goals and objectives of a company. For this, I need to be aware of my strength and
weaknesses, and skills which are essential to achieving future goals effectively. When the
carer planning is strong so that this could help me in maintaining the direction, set the job
abilities and knowledge which are necessary for the job, and safe the future dream which
gives high growth. It will help me in improving the loyalty of employees.

I have to formulate and develop the action plan which includes time where all the required
events and activities are completed. I need to make sure that the project should be regulated
and operated with the assistance of staff members and they helped each other for finishing the
project works in the given time. I have excellent communication skills which assist me in
interactions with clients and other parties and understand their views regarding the project.
Along with this, I have analyzed that if they have any problem related to the project so they
can easily communicate with senior leaders who handle the project. It will assist in
developing and make the work simpler for the team members so that they can complete it
within the described period. For managed and remained employed in an organization, I have
to examine the risks which may occur and create problems during the formulation of a
particular project. Also, I have to develop a proper solution that could eliminate the issues
which may arise and create problems in the development of the project and reduces the
productivity level of employees. It is important for me is to determine and evaluate the
desired risks and form the proper solution for eliminating such issues in a better manner
before the beginning of project work.

Future development intention planning


It is necessary for me is to look towards the future where I would like to enhance my abilities
and skills. I will formulate my future by selecting the accurate career direction and with the
assistance of senior members need to go beyond the option and gain high success. Besides
this, I will plan to join a big construction organization that is popular all across the world and
I have been employed as the project assistant. In this company, my role is to coordinate and

collaborate with my team members for conducting project work and achieving great growth
in a better manner. I have to check the project progress and status report which shows the
actual growth of the project. My duties are to develop appropriate decisions for an
organization’s project that gives extreme success and increased profitability level of a
company. I will encourage my team members to perform great tasks and make every project
attain high success and development. I will concentrate on my work and learn new things
which assist in improving my knowledge and also evaluate new customers’ needs or
requirements that help to gain advantages to a firm. It is necessary for me is to listen to all the
colleagues and collect their views regarding how to develop and make changes in the project
work.

Future development intentions


I will plan my future development and in this my intention is clear. For accomplishing a
higher position in a reputed company and I will perform hard work for attaining desired goals
and targets. I will also improve in my latest technology and equipment which gives me
enhanced success and growth level in future career growth and development. In addition to
this, I will ensure to satisfying all the major goals and targets that had been described in past
time in context to the professional development plan. It is necessary for me is to achieve the
goals of an organization that I will join after the improvement in my abilities and skills and
attain experience in another company. After gaining some experience, I will join a large
organization that needs highly skilled and experienced candidates for managing the job
position. Along with this, I will examine my job role and accountabilities and after beginning
the task, this will develop me intelligent and committed to the task. In the future time, I will
require developing knowledge by examining the company’s mission, vision, goals, and
client's needs which will assist me in smoothly run the business operations and its functions.
If I will capable to solve issues related to clients so that there is a chance manager can
promote me to a high position within an organization.
