1. What do you mean by the term IT and ITeS?
Ans- Information technology means creating, managing, storing and exchanging
information. It also include all the types of technology used to deal with information,
such as computer hardware and software technology used for creating, storing and
transferring information.
Information Technology enabled Service is define as outsourcing of processes
that can be enabled with information technology and covers divers areas like
finance, HR, administration, health care, telecommunication, manufacturing, etc.
2. What are the pros and cons of using ICT?
Ans- Some of the pros and cons of using ICT are-
Pros- a) Can communicate with friends, family in seconds.
b) Online Learning
c) Real time interaction with other information system.
Cons- a) No reliable trusted sources
b) Surface learning
c) Reduce privacy
3. What precautions are required to ensure that ICT use is safe?
Ans- a) Regular online backup
b) Installation of protective software to secure data and computer devices.
c) Parental control should be on when computers or smart phones are handed over
to children
4. What are the four main sub-sectors in the IT-BPM industry?
Ans- a) IT Service
b) Business Process Management
c) Software products
d) Engineering research and development.
5. Give examples of IT in everyday life.
Ans- Washing machine, Microwave, Television, Refrigerator, etc
6. How IT is used in libraries’?
Ans- Many libraries are computerised. Each book has a barcode associated with it. This
makes it easier for the library to keep a track of their books and the availability of a
specific book. Computer software is used to issue the return of the book. Each book
in the library has a magnetic strip attached to it, that is deactivated before the book
can be borrowed.
7. What are the various processes of education where IT is used?
Ans- a) ICT in classroom- Several ways where ICT is used in classroom are
 E-learning classroom
 Smart board presentation
 Videos on experiment
 Educational games, etc
b) Education anywhere anytime- Students can access educational resources on any
topic through mobile application or websites.
c) Teaching aide and media- Various teaching aids are used in school like using
pictures, videos and animation for learning.
d) Learning management system (LMS)- A learning system where a teacher or
student can register himself/herself on the official websites to access LMS. Through
this system they can learn anywhere and anytime, submit queries or comments
through forums, participate in various co-curricular activities, etc.
8. Which software are used in digital communication?
Ans- Communication and network software is used for setup and management of digital
communicatiob networks such as LAN or WAN computers network, e-mail,audio-
video network, wireless communication system, etc.
9. For what purpose is IT used in business?
Ans- Purpose of using IT in business are-
 Storing information about products such as stock control using sophisticated
database.
 Making business calculation such as costing and profit calculation using
spreadsheets.
 Providing advertising and promotional literature using computer graphics
packages.
 Internal communication using fax, e-mail and other method of
communications.
 Creating websites as a promotional and informational tool for an
organisation.
10. Which are the prominent areas where IT is used in Science and Engineering?
Ans- Some of the prominent areas where IT is used in Science and Engineering are-
