Module 1: Course Orientation
Module 1: Course Orientation
COURSE OVERVIEW
Read the LDM Course Overview. Reflect on the overview by answering the following
questions. Write down your insights in your Study Notebook.
1. What is the main delivery of this course?
This is a task-oriented course that combines guided study using self-learning modules
and co-learning and collaboration through the LAC. From the Learning Continuity Plan,
this course is under the learning modality on blended and distance learning.
2. How can this course help ensure that you will be able to deliver quality instruction in
the “new normal”?
This would greatly help in delivering instruction in the new normal by means of creating
avenues for varied learning modalities. It would equip teachers to use new approaches
and use technology, digital and printed modules and other supplements to aid LAC
sessions.
3. What are the two support mechanisms that will help you with your learning in this
course?
Part 1 covers the LDM selection and implementation planning coursed through
Modules 1-4 and Part 2 consists of the practicum covering LDM implementation and
portfolio building through Module 5. This course would be supported by the Learning
Action Cell (LAC) through leaders, facilitators, documenter, resource person/s, and
other members for collaboration. Another would be the LAC instructional coaches for
the LAC group.
Answer the following questions by copying and filling out the table in your Study Notebook.
1. How will my personal characteristics and circumstances affect (positively or negatively)
my participation in this course?
- Keen on details. This will positively affect my participation in such a way that I
would ensure that I would make sure that upon submission, all things must be in
the right place, or else I would not submit requirements.
- Procrastination. I tend to do my requirements a few days before the deadline
because the adrenaline actually gives me drive to answer queries. However, this
would negatively affect my participation due to a limited time for submission.
2. How can I ensure that I am able to sustain my strengths and address the obstacles
that will hinder me from completing this course?
- By being accountable with my LAC group, since this is a collaborative task. I also
need to have proper time management in order to be productive and hit the target
deadlines that our group designated.

1. Reflect on the objectives for conducting LAC sessions as listed in DO 35, s. 2016.
Rank the following objectives from easiest to the most difficult to achieve:
4 To improve the teaching-learning process to improve learning among students
3 To nurture successful teachers
2 To enable teachers to support each other to continuously improve their content
and pedagogical knowledge, practice, skills, and attitudes
1 To foster a professional collaborative spirit among School Heads, teachers, and
the community as a whole
2. What are the top three challenges to having a successful LAC? List down and
elaborate.
- Timeliness/Promptness. Before the LAC session, the LAC members are expected
to identify professional needs and prioritize issues to be addressed. In order to do this,
the members, facilitator and leader should know the time-bound of the LAC.
- Internet connectivity and Technological problems. During the LAC session, the
final activity would involve individual and group action planning to implement the
agreed activities in the classroom. The challenge to this is our shift from face-to-face
to virtual meetings and the availability of internet connection anytime, anywhere.
- Cooperation/Collaboration/Communication. After the LAC session, LAC leaders
monitor and evaluate how far the LAC members have contributed to improve the
outcomes for the learners at school. To do that, each member should be accountable
with the group to make sure that the sessions would be properly implemented.
