Reflection

 After answering and going through the outputs of your co-teachers, what do
you think are the adjustments that the teachers need to make in lesson
planning?

Answers:

As I go through the different outputs of the teachers, I think that the others
need technical assistance to adjust or practice in unpacking and combining
MELC’S. The teachers must be updated with the skills in preparing lesson plans
that should be fit in new normal curriculum.

The teachers must well-understood and embraced the reality of LDM platforms
to make certain quality learning outcomes and make necessary adjustment in
making lesson plan which the unpacking and combining of MELCS are need to be
apply so that the student acquire the right and concrete competencies in this
pandemic times even if the students are studying at home with the modules. Also,
the teachers need to support each other to continuously improve their content and
pedagogical knowledge, practice, skills, and attitudes in preparing the lessons.

Every teacher should embrace this LDM2 LAC Sessions to become more equip
in handling a new normal class. And must be prepared in embracing this kind of
changes for the benefits of our learners who are our primary concern especially in
making a lesson plan.

 What are the steps that you and your department/subject area teachers can do
to assist/guide them through these changes? What are the changes you need to
make as a Master Teacher/Head Teacher as you lead your group through these
changes?

Answers:

The normal education does really change because of this pandemic. These

challenges are a challenge to master teachers or assigned LAC Leader and head
teachers in giving technical assistance to teachers. The assistance on teachers in
using technology is very important particular on virtual meetings and work from
home activities wherein the use of technology is important.

As the LAC Leader I need to embrace the reality first so that I can face the
challenges as technical assistance coach. I need to understand and adopt the
current situation and equip myself with knowledge and skills through webinars,
research and asking assistance to my instructional leaders. I need to make sure
that I’m capable enough to help other teachers by giving technical assistance with
regards to pedagogical methods and other concerns in line with my field of
specialization.

Another changes I need to adjust is the adoption of technology in my daily task

because, the use of technology is very important as a tool to assist teachers like
giving updates like template for new task and conducting virtual meeting in Google
Meet in order to adjust in this new normal.

The first step we need to make is to let the reality be accepted by all teachers
through virtual meetings, lac session and peer discussions. Next step is to
encourage the teachers to attend supplementing webinars like pedagogical
methods, mental health, and parental support because in this pandemic the
psychological aspect of every teacher must be strengthened so that their mental
health will stay stable and capable to perform their duties and functions as a
teacher.

The next step is to encourage teachers to adopt the new normal by encouraging
them to keep on teaching and serving the youth even the middle of this crisis. It is
not easy to do this, it take a lot of time and effort because everybody is adjusting to
the current situation. Working together and listening to fellow teachers, building
rapport is important to identify the needs of our teachers. Some needs are not
spoken but can be notice through actions.

The soon as we accept change and adopt it, the easier it become for the
teachers to accept and adopt change. Change is evitable, all we need is to accept
it, and adjust to it and enjoy the benefits of it because it is life in this tough time.
We have the opportunity to show our love for educating learners the best we can.

 If there is a curriculum initiative by your region or division, such as developing

the Budget of Work per subject area that is based on the MELCS, how will you
guide teachers in bridging the connection of MELCS and this sample
initiative?

Answer:

Teachers must have their learning competency in their area of specialization.

In building the connection with regards to budget of work, as the assigned LAC
Leader, I need to take initiatives like conducting LAC sessions on Mapping of the
essential and desirable learning competencies within the curriculum; Identification
of prerequisite knowledge and skills needed to prepare students for essential
learning competencies and; Analysis of the interconnectedness of prerequisite
knowledge and skills among the learning competencies for each subject area. SO
that the teachers should be guided on unpacking and combining MELC’S to
achieve the learning objective.

MELC’s serves as a teacher guides in preparing his/her lesson and

instructional materials. Despite that we are facing this global pandemic the Most
Essential Curriculum were badly in need to maximize the important learning
competencies that is fitted well in the calendar of this School Year. Also the
students can achieve the important competencies in this new normal.

The teachers need to help each other in concerning MELCS so that it will
ensure the quality instructions to be delivered among learners. The most essential
learning competency must be will understood by all teachers in the department.

In unpacking and combining MELC we must take into consideration the

alignment on the Content and Performance Standards-in unpacking MELC’s, we
must consider this feature in order for us to achieve a quality teaching output.
Prerequisite knowledge and Skills-curriculum objective must be hierarchy.
Mastering Fundamental knowledge is a must before going to the other level of
learning. Logical sequence of learning objectives must be emphasized. We can’t
give a better idea to our students if our objective is not logically sequenced.
Planning what are the most important objective is the key frame in achieving better
understanding of our learners.

All MELC’s should be unpacked in order to systematized learning activities so

that delivering ideas to our student would not be congested. The teacher will

guided through their learning from LAC session of LDM2. We need to unpacked
MELC’s in order to systematize learning activities and effectively address the
varying needs of learners and the challenges of instructional deliveries. I realized
that we should unpacked and combined MELC’s to make our lesson more specific
and easy to understand by our learners which is primary concern. As a teacher we
should level our standard to our learners so that we could easily address and vital
needs which is mastery of learning. The teachers should realize that they don’t
need broader and difficult topics to ensure them to be equipping with learning.

As the assigned LAC leaders, we will guide our co-teachers in formulation of

MELC’S by giving them examples during LAC session. Their outputs will be check
and we will have peer tutorial on this topic.

Learning to unpack, combine and Retain Learning competency are all important for a
teacher to master because it will help to identify the most important skill that the learners
should master and develop. At the start our co-teachers find it very difficult to do but after
the conduct of LAC session in this topic, it becomes clear to them the skill that need to
develop.

Cooperation between instructional coaches and teachers are very important to achieve
bridge the gap when it comes to problem that arises in every situation.

The realization on this, every teacher must master the competency and select the best
competency that will benefit to the learners needs and will enhance their knowledge and
skills so that they will become independent in their chosen career in the future.

Every teacher should equip themselves with all the knowledge and skills; they must like
a lighted torch to discover the gem hidden in the dark despite of challenges of this new
normal. All instructional leaders and facilitators are doing their best to give technical
assistance for teachers that needs most.

Reflection

 How can these lists of interventions help the teachers teach better in the new
learning delivery modality? Why is it important for every teacher in your team
to have them?

Answer:

The lists of interventions provide the different kind of learners that needs education
despite of different situation in life. The identified lists for learners is very important for
the teachers to identify the needs and how to cater it. The identified intervention will not be
materialized without the help of parents, stakeholder and community. Internal and external
factors of the community should go hand and hand to ensure the success of this endeavor.

It is very important for every teacher to have the list of intervention so that they will be
guided in providing quality education with technical assistance. The intervention must be
specific, measurable and attainable. Base on my observations the teachers are aware of
what to do when the needs arises and identifying the needs with corresponding intervention
assures that the quality of learning will be attained.

As we teacher, we need to get involve to bridge the gap if the needs arises.

 What are the challenges in developing learning tasks in a Distance Learning

environment? What key competencies would you need to assist teachers in?

Answer:

The situation of Malpitic Integrated High School is a distance learning through

the use of printed materials particularly the modular learning. This is very
challenging because of lack internet connection capability of the learner to
supplement the learning. So our division made a localized module to be used but
we know some students doesn’t know to answer the module or part of the modules
so the interventions fill in the gap or problems that the students encounter.

The communication skills of teachers for parents must be enhanced to support

and monitor learning outcomes.

 What is the difference in assessing students in between traditional and Distance

Learning modalities? How can you guide teachers in bridging these gaps?

Answer:

Traditional learning takes place in schools takes place in schools where

students are provided with learning opportunities in a face to face manner. W here
the teacher and learner/s are physically in one venue. There are opportunities for
active engagement, immediate feedback and socioemotional development of
learners. It may be conducted in any available physical learning space while the

materials or access to resources and he/she undertakes self-directed study at
home or in another venue. Learners engage in independent learning at home or in
any physical learning space applicable, by using learning materials that are
accessible either online, stored on CD/DVD/USB Flash drive, or in printed form, or
by viewing TV lessons or listening to radio-based instruction while being

Learning in the new modality? What are the essential elements of the weekly Home Learning
Plan will you need to look for?

Answers:
Weekly home learning plan plays an important part in this new normal. This
plan will serves as the regular lesson plan for the teachers. It highlights the most
essential learning competencies, topic, and activities and mode of delivery. This
plan is very simple yet the targeted MELC’S is there. It ensures that the exact and
right competency is expected to learned and master by the students.
The essential part of this weekly home learning plan is the topic, its MELC’S,
and activities. It need to be check if the competency is exact and correct. It need
to make sure that there is congruency of all parts from objectives to evaluation,
and make sure that the learning objective is mastered every week.
Also need to check the Individual monitoring tool that has prepared if there is
an intervention for those students who are lagging behind as well as the

Answers:
As the LAC leader with the help of our school head we need to provide technical
assistance on teacher needs on how to deal with the problems he/she
encountered with students who are lag behind. The right intervention material
must be assessed if it is in line with the MELC’S and the progress will be
monitored by concern teacher.
If all measures have done and still the students lag behind, we will help each
other teacher to make activities, remedial worksheets, and assessments or
homework in line with the capacity of students. We have to consider student
individual differences and slow learners will be given special attention to catch-up.
LAC session will be conducted to supplement teachers to address the problem.

Second step is to collaborate with teachers in conducting action research that will result
in producing learning material outputs that can be used as module or reference material.

Lastly, is to use learning portals as valid source of educational materials rather than
choosing non-DepEd portals.

DepEd prescribed LR’s are reliable and aligned in the basic requirement needed
for choosing LR’s while non-DepEd LR’s sometimes deviate from the requirements
of standard LR’s. DepEd materials before posting to the DepEd portal were being
examined by the DepEd personnel, this portal have standard assessment tools
that will ensure the highest quality of education.

materials for my instruction.

Reflections:

As a teacher we should patronized localized and indigenized materials to our

learners so that they can relate and interconnect their own culture and diversity as
well as gender sensitive learning materials.

We must adapt this tool and use it every time we make our own LR’s
considering culture, gender-fair issues. And also, we must hat a learner as well as
the parent or guardian could easily understand different topics that we want to feed
in this new normal class. “So, the simpler, the better for the betterment of
education”.

Reflection Question:

 How can I help further assist/guide the development of competencies of the teachers in
my department?

Answer:

As a LAC leader, I can guide and assist my teachers if I make myself updated,
improved through professional continuation program like attending training, seminars,
webinars, and other professional programs or studies.

I need also to monitor the teachers’ developmental plans as my school head does so I
can make plans to help them improve their key result areas.

I have to be consistent to monitor my competencies not only the others but mine too,
and to check our development plans and to make necessary adjustment to help each
other improve and meet our developmental needs.

Extending help to each other is to develop the competencies of the teachers are very
important to address the issue. The support of the principal and stakeholders contribute to
develop the competencies of our teachers.

We need encourage to use learning portals to reinforce learning to help their

students. Through the use of LRMDS and DepEd commons, they can apply
assessment tools in choosing learning resources for the modules.

The skill to unpacked and combined MELC’s in making lesson plans are the
area that should be mastered by my teachers, It is very important nowadays
because we could not establish Face to Face learning, we could not take to see
that our parent’s will suffer to teach their child. So, with the help of this accessible
and available materials, I think it will lessen the burden for parents to teach at
home.

Rating:_______

Conclusion (State the overall impact or lesson learned)

In conclusion, the teachers are the key factors in making this delivery modalities
successful. Enhancing pedagogical skills, and continuing professional development
through the help of instructional coaches and LAC leaders are important to ensure the
quality education we want to provide and deliver for our learners. We have to be strong,
safe, and healthy and help each other to make this dream come true!
