How did Historical Foundation Influence the Curriculum Development?

Answer: Historical Foundation influence the Curriculum Development because it plays a very important
role in the development of the nation. It takes long and tedious time to formulate a good curriculum
which represents the need of the society and the experiences of the past. The history of the curriculum
tell the curriculum planner how to develop and modify the curriculum, what to teach and what should
be the core materials of the subject, what objectives they want to achieve through the curriculum.
History also tell them how the teacher should teach, what are the best practices they need to
incorporate in curriculum teaching and what kind of teaching need to be avoid. The history of the
curriculum also explains the teacher psychology at different style. Historical foundation also provides a
detail about the learner behavior at different times. It also provides information about the psychology of
the students, how they learn and what they want to learn. The history of the curriculum guides the
future plans because curriculum is always based on the future demands of the country and the lesson
learned through history, tell the curriculum developer not to repeat the mistake of the past and develop
a curriculum which is based on the future need of the society and international demands. History is the
profile of past successes and failures. 

Why is it important for us to know the Historical Foundation of Curriculum?

By looking at specific stories of individuals and situations, you can test your own morals and values. You
can compare it to some real and difficult situations individuals have had to face in trying times. Looking
to people who have faced and overcome adversity can be inspiring. You can study the great people of
history who successfully worked through moral dilemmas, and also ordinary people who teach us
lessons in courage, persistence and protest.

 What knowledge skills attitudes or values do you want to instill in your student that are most
valuable to be taught and learn?

Although the terminologies used to articulate the values above are not identical, a common thread
emerges on the importance given to certain values, such as human dignity, respect, equality, justice,
responsibility, global-mindedness, cultural diversity, freedom, tolerance and democracy. These values
would help shape a shared future built on the well-being of individuals, communities and the planet.
