Daud and Jerry berkongsi 30 biji durian. Daud mendapat 6 biji durian lebih daripada Jerry. Cari
bilangan durian yang diperoleh Daud dan Jerry masing-masing.
Daud and Jerry share 30 durians. Daud gets 6 durians more than Jerry. Find the number of
durians received by Daud and Jerry respectively.

Solution:

Situation 1: Total durians = 30 plus

Situation 2: Daud gets 6 durians more than Jerry

Let 𝒙 = the number of durians received by Daud

𝒚 = the number of durians received by Jerry


You may use

SUBSTITUTION METHOD or
𝑥 =6+𝑦 𝑥 − 𝑦 = 6 ________(2) ELIMINATION METHOD

respective masses.

Situation 1: Total mass = 68 minus


Situation 2: Fatin is 6 kg lighter than Hanim

each item.

Solution:

Situation 1: 3 books and 2 pens cost RM135

Situation 2: 2 books and 3 pens cost RM140

3𝑥 + 2𝑦 = 135 ________(1)
2𝑥 + 3𝑦 = 140 ________(2) Both coefficients
