The written report is based on a career path of hospitality industry that assists an individual’s
aim for achieving success in life. As we all know, hospitality industry is the most profitable
economic sector both national and internationally. The paper also discusses the micro and macro
environments of a business. Finally, the fantasy job function of this company is also written in
the paper and the motivation and desire for taking this path in the food and beverage sector of
hospitality industry.

Introduction
Five-star hotels and restaurants have been pampering customers and set
themselves apart from the competition for two centuries. Today, as more companies strive to
provide clients with outstanding experiences, hospitality graduates are in high demand. Even
though working in the hospitality and tourism sector is a journey full of huge risks.
If we focus on Canada, we will find that it is rich in tourism, both natural and
man-made. There are numerous cuisines to sample in this country. Every year, a large number of
people from many nations travel to Canada to spend their vacations, and the hospitality and
tourism industry in Canada is always hiring new workers to meet the demands of tourists. For
example, if we perform simple computations, and come to a conclusion, we may discover that
the hospitality sector employs over a million Canadians, making it a substantial economic sector
for the country, similar to other economic sectors.
This project written today focuses mainly on the restaurant industry of the
hospitality and tourism sector. It indicates the reason and benefits of working in the restaurant
industry and also covers the micro and macro components that may have an impact on the
company or equivalent to excellent execution.
Food And Beverage Sector and It’s Economic Importance
If I had to choose an option in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry- I
would like to work in the food and beverage sector. The reason for working in the food and
beverage sector is that it is a fast-paced sector in the hotel and tourism industry and is the largest
segment of this industry. In 2019, the F&B industry contributed a total of more than $8 billion.

Restaurants offer jobs on a global level. When the world got hit by the pandemic 'Covid-19',
restaurants had a huge negative impact on them. However, after one year of the pandemic,
restaurants' revenue spiked up and they are coming back on track.
The Keg Steakhouse and Bar and Its Corporate Culture
Talking about the restaurants, I would like to work with 'The Keg'. The Keg is a Canadian
restaurant chain owned by Canada. It was founded in 1971 in North Vancouver, British
Columbia in Canada, and was founded by George Tidball. As of 2018, The keg has expanded its
locations to 160 both in Canada and United States. They expanded their locations when the
Canadian food industry Recipe Unlimited purchased the keg chain for $200 million. On
December 3, 2003- The Foodservice and Hospitality Magazine honored The Keg Steakhouse &
Bar as "Restaurant Company of the Year". The keg offers food products such as Steak, ribs,
seafood, and chicken. The Keg has given employment to more than 9000 people both in the US
and Canada. The Keg Steakhouse and Bar have few competitors and it includes Bar Denay,
Bernhardt, and Zanzibar Beach club. They all provide services like a nightclub, distillery, and
restaurants. The keg has annual revenue of around $100 million to $500 million. 2002, KRL
introduced The Keg Royalties Income Fund and then sold it on the TSX (Toronto Stock
Exchange). The Keg funds hold those trademarks and they receive 4% of gross sales for
restaurant locations annually.
Company’s Philosophy Towards the Client, Employee and Its Service Practice
The Keg has a really nice corporate culture. According to Keg's corporate culture, a
workplace should always be a place to work and a place to socialize with others. They also
include that they recognize that life does not only exists at work- it exists outside of work and

work should be enjoyed as an employee. They support a healthy and enjoyable working
environment where both customers and employees can understand each other and respect each
other.
Mission And Vision Statement
Keg Steakhouse and Bar has a very simple and understandable mission statement- which
helps them operate very smoothly. The mission statement is "To be the top choice for steak-
loving men and women by allowing Keggers and visitors to be themselves". By looking at their
success rate, it can be seen that The Keg Steakhouse and Bar has always stuck to the mission
statement and they are on the right path of achieving success and winning their customers.
Macro And Micro Environment
The keg has come a long way in achieving success and there is no doubt that it was an easy
journey. With more than 150 locations in both US and Canada, the top most micro impact could
be the quality of service. Not all the managers or the staff members have the same mindset of
giving good customer service. There might be some minor and major complaints by the
customers and it is really hard to fix them and this impact could bring down the company's
reputation.
Pandemic has been the biggest reason for macro impacts on the economic structure of any
business. Due to the pandemic everyone lost their jobs and people are not comfortable spending
their money on food outside and this reason shook the economic structure of the business and it
becomes a hurdle to achieve monthly revenue goals for the company.

There are numerous exciting choices to enjoy if anyone wants to work in the Food &
beverage sector of the hospitality industry. it starts for F&B service managers, restaurant
managers, banquet managers, bar managers, food safety supervisors, chefs, kitchen staff and so
many more. What brings me the most joy and excitement is being a restaurant manager. The
restaurant manager has the most exciting and challenging job. The restaurant manager's job is to
look after the overall operations of the restaurant(s). For becoming a restaurant manager, one
should have abilities to manage the function of the restaurant and should have the ability to
supervise, training, grooming and helping the staff to overcome any hurdles. He/she should be
able to manage the budgets of the restaurant and should handle sales and should coordinate with
the cashiers on daily basis. The right amount of food and other essential goods need to order for
the restaurant. Considering, that I have a good knowledge of customer service and have a lot of
patience with people, I believe that I am the right fit for becoming a restaurant manager. I believe
that I am good at listening to people and helping them with their problems and always
encouraging to achieve what they want in their life. The skill I would like to improve is become
a mentor. I want to be someone's reason to come to work and I want others to feel comfortable
around me and sharing their thoughts with me so we can make a positive mutual understanding
at the workplace.
Reason For the Particular Career Choice
Since grade 11, working in the food and beverage industry has been a goal of mine. I've
always wanted to make new acquaintances and meet new individuals. There are other ways to do
this as well, but working in the hospitality sector presents more obstacles and teaches a person to
deal with them and make sensible judgments. In addition, my father owns a restaurant in
London, UK, and I want to assist him in growing our business. In a summary, the hospitality

business has a long way to go, and I am confident that, as an evergreen and evolving industry, it
will reach new heights in the future. Business magnets prefer to invest in the hospitality industry,
which makes me want to work in it even more.
Conclusion
In a nutshell, it can be concluded that food and beverage sector is the most profitable sector in
the whole industry. No matter what the situation is, the restaurants and bars will never go out of
business as majority of population wants to try different cuisines. Moreover, food and beverage
sector offer most exciting and succeeding jobs to an individual. One can never get enough out of
this sector and the keg steakhouse and bar always take good care of their employees and their
valuable guests.
