Escape from Tarkov - Optimisation Guide by Mini Fucking Haven

( 10 FPS extra for Ryzen users )

Let’s start with my specs, so you guys got stuff to compare.

CPU: Ryzen 1600x @ 4.0GHZ on 1.298v

GPU: Gainward Phoenix GLH 1080 @ 2173 MHz
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16 GB ( 2 x 8 ) @ 4000 MHz ( 1.45v, 60Ohm Resistance )
MOBO: MSI B350 Tomahawk Arctic
MONITOR: 144hz IPS 1440p ( 1080p User should get more FPS anyway )
HARDDRIVE: SSD Samsung Evo 1TB

FPS Ingame Averages after 20 minutes runs on 1440p:

Average Updated as of 30.06.2018 ( after optimization patch and RAM OC )

Factory: 137 FPS ( 144 cap )

Customs: 115 FPS ( 144 cap )
Shoreline: 105 FPS ( 120 cap )
Interchange: 117 FPS ( 120 cap )
Woods: 138 FPS ( 144 cap )

OUT OF THE GAME STUFF

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR RYZEN USERS:

We as Ryzen Users do have SMT ( simultaneous multi-threading ) - the equivalent to Intel’s
Hyperthreading. I can’t test on an Intel, but it “should” work the same. If you DISABLE it in
your bios ( so you’ll have 6 cores - 6 threads, or w/e cored CPU you have, not 6/12 ) you
will gain an average of 7-10 FPS.

I highly suggest turning it off if:

- You are only gaming on your rig
- Not working at all heavy tasks
- Heavy tasks include: rendering, editing, the whole Adobe Suite / Sony Vegas /
Premiere / 3D stuff.

Your normal experience won’t be hindered at all. ( browsing, etc )

If you do stream however, obviously sacrifice those FPS and help your stream & gaming
performance a bit at the same time. ( Ex-Streamer )
Memory Cleaner by Koshy John -
https://www.koshyjohn.com/software/memclean/ - download it and let it run,
tick options as shown here: http://prntscr.com/jl7ht2

Basic, but does it’s job.

nVidia Inspector -
http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/nvidia-inspector-download,1.html
Wait a bit, download should pop open. Download, extract, run nVidiainspector.exe and it
should look like this when you open it. http://prntscr.com/jl7il3
Right side of “driver version” you should see an tool icon, click it,
you’ll get this following screen http://prntscr.com/jl7j9x
Left top, where you’re able to type, type in “Escape from Tarkov” and “click” it from the
drop-down list. You’ll see some parameters change, after that happens, you head top right
and hit “Apply Changes”. This will enable more in-game graphic settings later on.

Disable HPET on Windows 10 and higher. ( and higher, he… )

HPET is High Precision Event Timer. Some Windows batches do have it enabled by default,
Idk if recent updates changed it. It’s an old mechanic, not used in any programs - I do have
nearly 1TB full with programs and designing stuff and games - the only thing that WAS
using it was Ryzen Master Application for overclocking / monitoring.

It is safe to disable, but you can google why - the gist of it is as follows:
Windows gets more predictable in handling workloads, making the FPS more stable.
It maybe drags away 2-3 of your previous max FPS, but the “lows” will be way higher and
will stop fluctuating.

1) Hit the Windows Key

2) Type in “cmd” for command prompt, rightclick and start as admin.
3) bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock to disable.
( Should you get an error message it’s disabled already )
Restart required.

Some motherboards can disable / enable it in their BIOS, go and doublecheck.

bcdedit /set useplatformclock true is to turn it on again. ( don’t, but just putting it there )
nVidia Settings ( sorry for the AMD guys, I’m not using my RX580 anymore )

1) Rightclick your desktop

2) nVidia Control Panel
3) Manage 3D Settings
4) Click on the “Program Settings” Tab
5) Escape From Tarkov.exe - choose that, or “add” it if it’s not there.
6) Change following settings:

Virtual Reality Pre-rendered Frames: “1”

Maximum Pre-rendered Frames: “1”
Preferred refresh rate "Highest available"
Shader Cache “On”
Power Management Mode: "Maximum Performance"
Texture Filtering - Quality: "High Performance"
Threaded Optimisation: "On"
Vsync: "Off"
Triple Buffering: "Off"

Next, go find your EscapeFromTarkov.exe wherever you installed it,

Rightclick it, go to properties, compatibility, “disable fullscreen optimisations” aswell as
“override high DPI behaviour” for the “application”.

INGAME STUFF:

Right after you open your game, you alt-tab back, rightclick on your taskbar, open the “Task
Manager”, head over to details, rightclick EscapeFromTarkov.exe and set the Priority to “high”

- Do not set this to realtime, otherwise you’ll have a really bad time.
Ingame Cache Clearing every other day ( that means you hit the overall-slider ( low to ultra )
one step down, save, quit the game, restart, set it a step higher again, save, then take over your
old settings. This is required approx every 3-4 days.

Ingame Settings:

- 2560 x 1440 ( or 1920 x 1080 - your native res. )

- 16:9 - Wide
- Vsync "Off"
- Fullscreen checked.

- Texture High
- Shadows Quality High ( Edited as of 06.06.2018 - lower high FPS, but overall more
stable )
- Object LOD 2
- Overall Visibility 400
- Shadow Visibility 40
- SSAO Off
- Contact SSAO Off
- SRR Off
- Anisotropic Filtering Off
- Anti-Aliasing FXAA ( this is only available if you used the nVidia Inspector thingie before )
- Sharpen 0.9 is optimal, if you like the painkiller effect and love sharper visuals overall, ( I
find it easier to spot enemies ) put this on 1.4

- Z Blur not checked

- Chromatic Aberrations not checked.
- Noise doesn’t affect performance, I like it personally.

Deleted my Discord Tag because people kept spamming me with their rigs and
temperatures and asking what “tricks” I got for their setup. The fuck did you just read?
