THE DEPRESSED YOUTHS

-Vrushti Lodaya

E very day, every hour, every minute, one hears that someone is suffering from
DEPRESSION. But what exactly does the term depression states??? In lay men’s language,
depression is defined to be a disorder of mind due to one’s mood swing. HAHAHA!! Sounds
simple but vast complicated.
“Depression is a prison,
Where you are both;
The suffering prisoner,
&
The cruel jailer.

There are many different age groups that suffers depression. Mainly not the young age
group as they sort out amongst themselves in the “katti-batti” zone. Depression starts when
one starts recognizing the REAL CRUEL WORLD. In initial teenage stage (15-19) one may
start suffering from depression. In the old age life, family issues, health instability, monetary
problems are some of the reasons of depression. In the parenting zone, the upbringing of
the child, family & monetary problems can be reasons of depression.

But what about “US”, we the youth generation, so called as “the future of the world”. The
only generation where there are infinite expectations & very limited acceptances. Yes, you
expect that the society must recognize us, we must create good name & fame in the society,
we must earn big amount of money & get our life set; then why don’t you allow us to do big
things? Why are restrictions always put forth? Why are we always ask to follow and respect
the opinion of the society? AND at the top of all of these, why are heart break always
pointed out to be a reason for depression?? Oh common, we have 99 more reasons too for
being depressed!!

There can hardly be any youth without suffering from depression. We go through infinite
things on daily basis. Conflicts among friends, differences of opinion with family, good looks,
impressive personality, peer pressure, high academic expectations, best job, high amount of
salary, snob appeal, emotional changes, etc. are certain reasons for depression in youths.
But the major cause I feel for depression is 1. The overthinking process & 2. The opinion of
society.
& it ends in resulting to make the person get addicted to all wrong habits, or in need to
consult a psychiatrist or mind disorders or mental functioning of brain.
Now the question arises is can we control or put a stop on depression??
Practically, the answer stands a big NOOOO!! Depression can’t be completely eradicated but
yes one can take certain measure to control it.
The best tip is once you stop caring about what does the society thinks or feels on actions
taken by you, you are surely 50% free from depression and other is when you stop
overthinking about the incidents happened with you in your past that resulted wrong and
start finding great solutions for your mistakes, you are then completely depressed free.
Start living a healthy life, surround yourself by people that makes you happy and supply
positive vibes. Your academic performance is really least important but yes you have to be
very passionate about your dreams and goals and give your 100%. Follow your dreams, love
yourself, Pray and be satisfied for whatever you are blessed with & start living a life of your
own will!!

Less expectations, low worry;
