Grace Marks rules for CBCS system introduced from Academic
Session 2016-17 and afterwards
Following shall be the details of the new grace system applicable for CBCS System:
A. Students admitted under Choice Based Credit System from session 2016-17

1 BTech 4 year I. A maximum of 07 grace marks per year could be awarded in
BPharm 4 year each year of study in theory or practical subjects (internal or
BFAD 4 year external) provided that his/her SGPA must be equal to or
BFA 4 year greater than the minimum passing criteria as laid down in
BHMCT 4 year university ordinance.
MCA 3 year 2. Such student shall be awarded a grade '£# ' which will be
MCA(I) 5 year deemed equivalent to the grade 'E' or the lowest passing grade
MBA 2 year in the particular subject; however, the grade '£#' will not carry
MBA(I) 5 year any grade point and therefore, the SGP NY GPA of the student
B Arch 5 year shall remain the same.
2 MTech 2 year 1. A maximum of 05 grace marks per year could be awarded in
MPhaim 2 year each year of study in the01y or practical subjects (internal or
MArch 2 year external) provided that his/her SGPA must be equal to or
greater than the minimum passing criteria as laid down in
university ordinance.
2. Such student shall be awarded a grade 'E#' which will be
deemed equivalent to the grade 'E' or the lowest passing grade
in the particular subject; however, the grade 'E# ' will not carry
any grade point and therefore, the SGPA/YGPA of the student
shall remain the same.
B. Students admitted under Choice Based Credit System from session 2018-19

1 B Tech 4 year 1. A maximum of 10 grace marks per year could be awarded
MBA 2 year in each year of study in theory or practical subjects
MBA(I) 5 year (internal or external) provided that his/her SGPA must be
equal to or greater than the minimum passing criteria as
laid down in university ordinance.
2. Such student shall be awarded a grade '£#' which will be
deemed equivalent to the grade 'E' or the lowest passing
grade in the particular subject; however, the grade '£# • will
not carry any grade point and therefore, the SGPNYGPA
of the student shall remain the same.

2 BVOC 3 year 1. A maximum of 03 grace marks per year could be awarded
(Started in each year of study in theory or practical subjects
from (internal or external) provided that his/her SGPA must be
session equal to or greater than the minimum passing criteria as
2019-20) laid down in university ordinance.
2. Such student shall be awarded a grade 'FJI' which will be
deemed equivalent to the grade 'E' or the lowest passing
grade in the particular subject; however, the grade 'FJI' will
not carry any grade point and therefore, the SGPA/YGPA
of the student shall remain the same.
3 MTech (I) 5 year 1. A maximum of 07 grace marks per year could be awarded
(Started in each year of study in theory or practical subjects
from (internal or external) provided that his/her SGPA must be
session equal to or greater than the minimum passing criteria as
2019-20) laid down in university ordinance.
2. Such student shall be awarded a grade '£#' which will be
deemed equivalent to the grade 'E' or the lowest passing
grade in the particular subject; however, the grade '£#' will
not carry any grade point and therefore, the SGPA/YGPA
of the student shall remain the same.
C. B Pharm students admitted under PCI ordinance from session 2019-20

1 B Phann 4 year 1. A maximum of 07 grace marks per year could be awarded in
each year of study in theory or practical subjects (internal or
external) provided that his/her SGPA must be equal to or
greater than the minimum passing criteria as laid down in
university ordinance.
2. Such student shall be awarded a grade 'FJi' which will be
deemed equivalent to the grade 'E' or the lowest passing
grade in the particular subject; however, the grade '£#' will
not carry any grade point and therefore, the SGPANGPA of
the student shall remain the same.
2 MPharm 2 year 1. A maximum of 05 grace marks per year could be awarded in
each year of study in theory or practical subjects (internal or
external) provided that his/her SGPA must be equal to or
greater than the minimum passing criteria as laid down in
university ordinance.
2. Such student shall be awarded a grade 'E#' which will be
deemed equivalent to the grade 'E' or the lowest passing
grade in the particular subject; however, the grade '£#' will
not carry any grade point and therefore, the SGPA/YGPA of
the student shall remain the same.
Important Notes:
a. The Grace Marks will be applied at the end of each academic year and if a student is eligible; his

b. Grace Marks awarded to a student in a subject will not be added to the total marks obtained by
the student. Also, the grade 'E#' will not carry any grade point and therefore, the SGPANGPA
of the student shall remain the same.
c. The grade sheet of the student will display the grade awarded after Grace Marks ( 'E#' or another
appropriate grade as per the individual ordinance of the particular course). The subjects in which
the student is awarded Grace Marks shall be mentioned in the result displayed on the university
website as well on the grade sheets of the student.
d. The Grace Marks cannot be ca1Tied forward. Therefore, if the marks are not availed in a particular
year of study, it will lapse.
e. A student who has cleared all the subjects of a particular semester as per the ordinance however,
his/her SGPA (semester grade point average) in the semester is less than the minimum passing
criteria as laid down by the university ordinance, can be awarded a grace in form of (grade
point) credit normalization up to 0.25 provided he/she can be declared to have passed the
academic year by the award of these grace credit marks.
For example,
l. For a B Tech student, in an academic year, if the aggregate SGPA for the student is 4.75
in any semester then his SGPA shall be nonnalized by adding 0.25 grace (grade point)
credits provided his other semester's SGPA is equal to or more than 5.0.
2. Similarly, if the SGPA of a B Tech student in odd semester is 4.90 and in even semester
is 4.85 semester or vice versa, then he may be eligible to get a grace credits of 0.1 and
0.15 credits (grade point) for odd and even semester respectively (Total grace credits 0.1+
0.15 = 0.25) and the student will be declared as pass in the respective semesters and
that academic year. However, the SGPA/YGPA/CGPA of the student shall remain the
same.
3. Similar rule shall be applicable to all other courses under CBCS and other.
f. A student willing to remove his grace marks from his result can apply in writing, within 60 days
of the declaration of result through a notarized affidavit, to withdraw his grace marks directly to
the university or through his institute. He can then appear in that paper in the respective odd/even
semester examination of the next academic year to improve his grades as per the university rules.
However, he will lose his claim to restore the revoked Grace Marks.
g. Grace marks shall not be applicable to the subjects studied under MOOCs, if any, whose internal
assessment and the end semester examination is not conducted by the university.
h. Grace marks shall not be applicable to the qualifying subjects for Lateral Entry students in which
the students have to simply clear the subjects. Similarly, grace marks shall not be applicable to
any subject offered as an Audit subject.
1. PhD students carrying out their coursework with the university by appearing in postgraduate level
subjects shall not be eligible for the grace marks.

NEW AMENDMENTS: Addition/Changes in CBCS Ordinance (B.Tech/B.Pharma/
BHMCT/BFAD) implemented in University since academic year 2017-18.
B. Method to convert the of results of students who were admitted in non-CBCS system
(Old) however due to failing in any year now studying as re-admitted student in CBCS
system (New).
The old examination results of students admitted to non-CBCS system (Old) shall henceforth
be converted to new grading system (CBCS system) by the computation of SOPA,YOPA and
COPA methods as laid down in section 14.1 and 14.4 of the CBCS Ordinance
(B.Tech/B.Pharma/BHMCT/BFAD) implemented in University since academic year 2016-17.
However, if any student who was declared PASS/PWO in old system but if the SOPA of the
student falls below 5.0 as per the calculations under CBCS system, the student shall be
exempted from minimum criteria of SOPA in a given semester and if any subject is cleared
by grace, such student shall be awarded a grade 'E# ' which will be deemed equivalent to the
grade 'E' or the lowest passing grade in the particular subject; however, the grade 'E# ' will
not carry any grade point and therefore, the SOP A/YOPA of the student shall remain the
same.
The academic council shall be empowered in their capacity to make/amend the above grace rules if
any anomaly of discrepancy is observed in the rules.
