1. INTRODUCTION
This document describes the technical release for OmniPCX Enterprise Release 8.0.
Release 8.0 (version G1.302.5) is a major release.
The programs of certification have been changed by ABPP. They are available on BPWS under
Training and Certification > Training > Post-Sales > Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise > Release
8.0.
You should need to make sure that all versions of existing applications are compatible with Release
8.0; refer to chapters 4, 5, and 6 of the technical communication TC0943 Installation procedure for
version G1.302.5 – Release 8.0.

2. NEW HARDWARE AND FEATURES FROM RELEASE 8.0

2.1 Overview
This version works with the Linux 53.1 operating system and supports the Crystal hardware and
common hardware platforms (common hardware with OmniPCX Office).
It enables the Call Server to work with the CPU6 Step2 128 MB, CPU7 256 MB, CPU7-2 256 MB of
crystal hardware, CS CPU, IBM Appliance Server (X306, X306M and X3250) and Hewlett Packard
Appliance Server Proliant DL320 G5.
It also allows the Call Server to work with IBM Lames integrated in a Blade Center.
It allows hardware to be combined (common hardware and crystal hardware): since Release 5.1, the
migration of OmniPCX 4400 to OmniPCX Enterprise is supported, but some applications and
hardware are no longer supported (therefore in the case of migration from 4400 to R8.0; refer to
chapters 5, 6 and 7 of the technical communication TC0943 Installation procedure for version
G1.302.5 – Release 8.0.

− Voice Recording through DR-link (Nice recording)
PCS = Premium Customer Support. The Premium Customer Support process allows the Partner
Businesses to profit an assistance on features or products whose marketing was announced (DR3)
but which are not launched yet on the market. The PCS process replaces the SDP (Specific Deal
Process) previous process; refer to the eFlash EF_Marketing_003_260704.

2.5 Specific process


If implementing a PCX in Large Capacity mode, contact the Technical Support to deploy this feature.

2.6 Features in test


− Nokia Dual Mode GSM.
Only the support PCX side is released. The availability of these handsets depends of Nokia.
− SIP trunking.
New carriers have begun a validation.
− DPT1-2 board (no delivered in Release 8.0).
