*Note that for checklist items that read As Required, the response should be
either ON or OFF or a relevant affirmative or negative response. Do not respond
with As Required. E.g Cockpit Lights..AS REQUIRED (Respond OFF for daytime
flights). Also, if a CAUTION paragraph is present, respond with CAUTION CAUTION
NOTED before carrying on with the checklist (but of course do know what the
caution means!).

Listen to the ATIS 120.9 MHz (confirm copied ATIS still current, if not, write
the new one on clipboard)

code], request start clearance for circuits
SMC : [callsign], Jandakot Ground, start approved
Pilot : [callsign]
Start-up clearance is required from Jandakot Ground, 124.3, for circuits. This is a
separate call to your request for taxi clearance. Whether departing or arriving,
remember that taxi clearance is always required to enter taxiway Bravo.

On 124.3 MHz
Pilot : Jandakot Ground, Cessna 172, [callsign], Northern Apron, received [ATIS

point]], [dual or solo]
SMC : [callsign], Jandakot Ground, taxi [holding point], [runway], [time

Pilot : Taxi [holding point], [runway], [callsign]
Note: If your taxi instruction includes the term holding point [runway] or hold
short of [runway], you are required to read back the instruction as stated in your
taxi clearance.
Taxi Brief
The Taxi Brief is given after receiving the Taxi Clearance. It must be conducted
with a picture of the Jandakot runway diagram from the Jeppesen. Example for Runway
06L as follows:
Our taxi route will be down the Northern apron towards the Central apron. We will
make a left-hand turn on to the D1 extension. We will take the first major right
hand taxiway to the Bravo 5 run-up bay. We will then taxi along Bravo 4, Bravo 3,
Bravo 2, turn left into Sierra 1 and hold short of runway 06L.
*Good to also practice for Runway 30, it is quite a mouthful! For Rwy 30, you
will request clearance to cross both 06L and 06R for Runway 30 once you are at
holding point Sierra Rwy 06L. JDK Grnd will usually give both clearances at one
shot.
Taxi
Park in the run-up bay with prop wash pointing into the tire wall
Avoid pointing prop wash into other aircraft or over taxiways
Usually facing the upwind of the runway in use, but no more than 30 degrees off the
perpendicular of the run-up bay.
Safety Brief
On 124.3 MHz
Pilot : Jandakot Ground, [callsign] at Golf, request cross 06L for 06R
SMC : [callsign], at Golf, cross 06L, taxi holding point 06R
Pilot : Cross 06L, taxi holding point 06R, [callsign]
*Note again that For Rwy 30, you will request clearance to cross both 06L and 06R
for Runway 30 once you are at holding point Sierra Rwy 06L. JDK Grnd will usually
give both clearances at one shot.
Check the taxiway signs and identify the taxiway and holding point as you approach
and enter.
Stop before the Yellow lines and cock aircraft into the approach so you can see any
aircraft on final.

On 124.3 MHz
Pilot : Jandakot Ground, [callsign], on Foxtrot, request taxi for the Northern
Apron
ATC : [callsign], taxi to the Northern Apron
Pilot : Taxi to Northern Apron, [callsign]
If you required to cross a runway on the way, your taxi call should be:
On 124.3 MHz
When taxiing up to the Northern Apron, remember that it is good airmanship to not
further delay a departing SFC aircraft.
Never taxi the C172 into a parking bay. Always pushback, Ops cadets will be on hand
to assist.
If there are aircraft with beacon lights on in the parking bays, do not taxi in!
Choose another parking bay, or go to the end past the parking bay, make a u-turn
and wait outside the parking area for the a/c to taxi off first.
If youre the last flight and your a/c is designated for night ops, remember to
park it in ALPHA parking bays.
